Marching into April

Monday, April 01, 2013

For me, March was a rather forgetful month. I didn't get out to see JC nearly enough. My back, neck etc. were not good and my exercise was off. I worked way too many hours and didn't take enough time for myself.

I will get back on track in April. I may not push the exercise as hard as I did, but I am going to work on at least 30 minutes a day 5/7 days a week.

JC will be at least 2 days a week. I had a great time with him this weekend and I have to remember how much he does for me both physically and mentally.

I am also going to try to take off at least 2 days a week or at least a morning or afternoon 2 days a week.

I have accepted that we do eat out a lot, but I have made some changes to how I deal with it. I only eat half of what I order and bring the rest home. I always try to order something healthy and a salad on the side.

I am not going to focus on weight. I am going to focus on health both physical and mental. I think that I was pushing so hard to burn so many calories per day, that if I couldn't burn over 400 calories, I didn't see a reason for working out. I ended up hurting myself in the process. I am not going to do that again. Any movement is good movement.

It may take me longer, but I think I will be healthier.

We're all works in progress . . . as long as you keep learning what works and doesn't work, you're learning and hopefully making some healthy living adjustments in the process. Praying that you have some great clients who allow you to work in some quality JC time, "me" time, and family time.

Yep, my husband and I do go out at least once a week. And it is for of all things -- chicken wings. I know they are not the best choice, but it is something special for us. I just try to make other better choices around it, and better choices the rest of the week too, so it is like a treat.

Sounds like you have a good plan in place for April. I'm happy to see balance returning to your life. It's great to focus on getting calories burned but not to the extreme where it takes over your life.

This is a journey and taking the time you need to develop lifetime skills is the better way to go imho. It is not about numbers so much as how you feel and how much joy you get out of life. My husband and I are like you. We do eat out a lot. Sometimes more often than at home during the week. I am good with it. Guess what? I'm still losing weight. Maybe not as fast as someone who seldom eats out, but I'm OK with that. I refuse to stop being one to go out with a friend in need or just not cooking when I'm not up to it for whatever reason. There is no need to change the lifestyle so drastically. You are changing your choices and that will make a difference.

I love that you are going to focus on taking time for you this next month. You have been burning both in exercise and work. Taking the time you need to recuperate will help in the long run. Good luck and most of all... HAVE FUN!
