April will be different, goodbye March. I won't miss you

Monday, April 01, 2013

March was not my finest month. emoticon Blizzards, work stress, started using insulin, and some bad choices.

The biggest challenge is accepting that I need to use Insulin. I have been on diabetes meds for about 4 years, but my morning glucose is still too high. My Dr. said it is too hard on my body to have these consistent high readings. So I am taking a small dose of insulin each night. I will be closely monitored to see if it is working and whether I need to have adjustments to the dosage. I've been doing this since last Thursday. It hasn't been too bad, and my glucose is slightly lower in the mornings. It will apparently take a while to really work, so I am trying to be patient.

Anyway my April goal is to do better with my tracking, especially my nutrition calculator. Want to have good information to give the Dr. and the diabetes educator the next time I see them.

I had a great Easter weekend. I took a vacation day on Friday so that I could attend our Good Friday service at church. Had a quiet Saturday and then a great church service on Sunday morning.

We had an Easter breakfast before church. I stayed away from the hot cross buns and cinnamon buns. Stayed with the scrambled eggs, ham, and fruit. Didn't even have toast.

I know I need to spend more time with you folks also. I have been negligent in responding to the encouraging goodies, messages and comments. Thank you so much for your support. I will do better at keeping in touch. Things at work are a bit quieter and I am back to working regular hours, no long days.

Annie, we have to prioritize our health much better than we have. I too have higher blood glucose than a year ago I cannot fathom the problem. I think I track well but I forget what I ate. I should take time to write it down at the table but I do not.

I hear you, my friend. There's been a lot happening in a short period of time...and not all of it sunny. Just the word diabetes has a nasty ring, I know, but you can do the diabetes "thing," too, Annie. Your Easter weekend sounds as if it was a great way to begin your personal Spring challenge to yourself, and you did GREAT!

Here's to feeling greater control and more success in April! emoticon
