Well, I made it 40 days no chips or fries but I gained weight BECAUSE I didn't exercise like I should have and ate too much junk.
I replaced junk for the stuff I gave up (which they were no good for me anyway) but I believe my biggest temptatio (other han fries and chips) is cheese,namely pizza.
I want to go vegan,and I do great except for the cheese pizza and anything cheesey.
I guess I actually have a willpower issue.
This month I am going to try and rid myself of the cheese monster I created for myself.
I also hope to not go back to the chips and fries.
I guess we will have to find the willpower that I know is there since I did quit smoking 15 or so years ago.(2 packs a day) Blech,ugly,stinky habit.
Here's to April and a clean slate.

How about making your own chips in the oven with sweet potatoes and spray or fries. You can also do it with the white potatoes as well. DON'T Beat Yourself Up! One Day At A Time One Step At A time! emoticon

    Yes, it is difficult to stay away from the foods that we love. We also used the same foods to comfort us. I am hoping that you will have success as you find other foods to satisfy your cravings.

    You were successful with the chips - you can be successful with the other junk foods. Just concentrate on one food at a time. You can do it!

    Hey, if you can give up chips & fries...you can do something about the cheese. Actually, have you thought about getting your cheese fix by snacking on just cheese (minus the pizza) - maybe some string cheese, or laughing cow light cheese? Who knows, maybe you could even smear some on (gasp) a celery stick?!?

Oh, and I feel you on the pizza. It's one of my personal downfalls emoticon

    emoticon emoticon You can do it...I admire you for even thinking about giving up cheese...I do mainly low carb, so, I do eat cheese. Of course, I used to think I couldn't go a day without chocolate, but, I've discovered that I can. Our WANT TO & WHY has to be strong enough for us to overcome our temptations.

    You've taken the first step by identifying the problem. One of my colleagues was told to give up cheese by her doctor. It was her only food vice, but it badly affected her health.

    When I get to maintenance (?) :) I want to be able to eat what I love. So with chocolate I changed to dark as it is better for you...no really...and went from a block of milk choc to a row of dark and weaned down to a piece every day, then every two, then once a week and now every 2 weeks and sometimes none for weeks.

But when i do have some, I keep it in my mouth for ages savouring it.

Pizza is really high in cals but you could still get the taste with a pita bread or flat bread and toppings, add some leaves on top when its cooked and enjoy. This way you have made a great leap toward your goals and don't really miss out on what you love. The extra spinach fresh or rocket will fill you up too.

Then when you get it right -the balance-- then have a smaller and smaller slice till you get the 'hit' but also the reward!!!

No harm in giving it a try. emoticon

    I know all about pizza. I scrape all the goodies off the top, and leave the crust. Makes me feel better without all that doughy yeast. Good luck without cheese; I know I couldn't do it. emoticon emoticon
