Surgery and trying to get back in the groove

Sunday, March 31, 2013

Had surgery at the beginning of March, complete hysterectomy. Surgery and recovery haven't been to bad at all. I was actually surprised by the lack of pain once the first 12 hours passed. My main problem was exhaustion and dizziness. I've also had trouble with one incision healing; it's right on my waist line; but is slowly getting there.

My eating has not been good however I didn't completely go crazy. I did manage to lose 1lb during my weeks off work. However...in one week back at work I gained 2lbs. I feel right back into my habit of stress/unhappy eating. Eating is getting better though. Think the stress/unhappy eating is something I will always battle.

I was amazed at how relaxed I was during my time off. Until about 3 days before I was went back to work and I could feel the stress coming on, could feel my neck muscles tensing up and my stomach started churning.

I'm not going to get into the whys but work is taking a turn for the worse and I'm really not looking forward to this next week. On the plus side my son's baseball games have started so I get to leave early 3 days this week :)

Have sent out several resumes and had two interviews. Heard back that I did not get the one of the jobs and since I haven't heard back from the other and it's three weeks past when they were going to decide I'm assuming I didn't get that one either. Haven't seen anything to apply for the last two weeks.

Trying to get back into the workout routine but with baseball games I won't get there as often in the evenings as I would like to. But baseball season won't last too long and then I'll be back to nothing on my schedule except workouts. lol

It's not easy to find a job out there. It took me years to get where I am now after being laid off from my last job, and I'm still in the temp to perm phase. I do hope you find something better. It's especially frustrating to try and find work when you're overweight, imo. I always wonder if my weight is going to weigh in on their decision of whether or not to hire me. I am glad you had some time away from work to de-stress, and I sincerely hope that you find a different job soon so that you can get away from all the unhappiness and stressors.

I remember your announcement of this operation pending. How long has it been since then? Hope you are recovering well. You seem to take it so well in hand.

Hi Michelle, I've missed you. Glad you are back. Sounds like you have recovered nicely from the surgery. Back to those old stressful issues but at least they are known stresses. You are doing the best you can with them. Being proactive with efforts to eliminate them. Yay for baseball! Opening day today. Enjoy your son's games!
Hugs
Kathy
