Trembling in the True Light
Sunday, March 31, 2013
Early this morning at 5:20 we left our mountain village for the next town. At about ten to six arriving at Bear Hill in darkness, we were all alone, turned our Jeep to head back down and parked opposite the pasture where believers in Jesus, from many different church buildings, gather each year to proclaim: "Christ is risen!!"
It was about 24 degrees F, but we shut off the engine and sat in meditation and prayer. Many things for which we are thankful came to mind along with concerns and petitions for some folks who are very ill or facing surgeries. After a time little double sets of dancing lights began to peek through the woods far below. More vehicles were making their slow way up the winding hill to join us from the darkened towns around. Also, the sky in back of us started to gradually lighten. About sixty or so folks arrived. On the hilltop, an old wooden cross was perched and we began to sing: "Were you there when they crucified my Lord?...Oh sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble...Were you there when GOD raised Him from the dead...?"
What struck us most was the light from the true Light..."At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light and the burden of my sins rolled away..." "What wondrous love is this, oh my soul...that caused the Lord of bliss to bear the dreadful curse for my soul?..." "Lives again our glorious King...Where, O death is now thy sting...where thy victory, o grave?..." "Shine, Jesus, Shine, fill this land with the Father's glory!" Indeed the Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings! (Malachi 4:2) And "the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea!" (Isaiah 11:9)
