Focusing on what's important

Last week I was a bit bummed because it appeared that my weight loss for March was two pounds, yet I did not take into account that the month was not over. Since that time I have lost two more pounds with an average of a pound a week for the month. That sounds so much better when looking at monthly losses. I am also moving more this week and that is the reason for the sudden loss. My focus is on getting out a couple of times a day and walking. Unfortunately I cannot or will not be a runner again because I am being very careful with my feet. So, walking is my go to exercise. A walk through the Arizona desert, surrounded by cactus, rabbits, quail and lizards, is a wonderful diversion. I found a great app for my iPhone that tracks my distance and time because I was not sure how far I was walking. My calculations were low and I have been walking for further and longer than I gave myself credit for. That is always good to learn. I feel more focused and good about what I am doing and hopeful I can walk the Camino in Spain sometime in August. I will know by July if my feet will withstand the mileage. It is so important to dream what your hardwork will do for you in the future. My dream is a healthier body and the ability to push myself in a way I have never before. I just have to keep that focus.

    You are doing great! I hope you will be able to do the walk in Spain. If you aren't able to , do you have a second place to walk? emoticon

    You did great this month! Good for you for keeping your focus on your goals. I, too, am mourning my running days. But walking is great, too. I love my occasional break from the gym to join the trails. Are you looking to do the St. Jacques de Compostel trail? Have you done it before? It's a hard walk, so be sure your feet will be up to it!

    It is great that you are moving and watching that you don't injure yourself and not be able to walk then. So go slow and let your body heal..

    I know the frustration of not being able to run when you really want to. I too use walking as my go-to exercise, and have a walk tracking app on my iPhone for when I go out hiking or walking around the neighbourhood. I wish my diversions were as delightful as the Arizona desert! emoticon

    It's hard to put in the work and not see the scale move but keep going and you will see the results of the hard work you're investing in becoming a new you. emoticon
