Just say no

Sunday, March 31, 2013

I've smoked since I was 16 or 17. I quit for two years but then I started again last fall. I've decided to quit again and I haven't had a cigarette for a little over a week.

My real problem is with alcohol. I have always loved drinking and for a long time I hung out with friends who drank all the time. Most of my current friends don't really drink, but I still have cravings. I tried going to AA for a while and stayed sober for a long time. Then I started again. Then I got sober again. I know alcohol is really bad for my liver because of all the medications I'm on and I know alcohol has tons of empty calories. I think I'm going to have to start going back to AA meetings or something because I'm trying to quit again but it is hard.

I know how hard it is. I have several "dry" alcoholics in my family. And though I don't drink often, I'm not one to "stop before it's all gone"?!?

I know you can do this. Find other outlets, avoid the easy drinks. You can do it. I'm here with you.
