My Easter hike in Normandy

Hello dear Sparkfriends,

Happy Easter!!! I am back from my Easter hike... It was cold! And grey! But it was lovely...

I drove to Lyons-la-Forêt, a little town in Normandy I have already mentioned a couple of times in previous blogs, as I like taking friends there. There are some nice little shops!

Shortly after I left Lyons-la-Forêt, walking all the way up the little path by the post office towards the woods, I saw the first primroses of my hike. It felt so good!

After Croix-Mesnil’s castle...

... I entered the woods. And there, suddenly, it felt completely like winter. But it was a gorgeous forest. The area is well known for its impressive beeches.

They had been cutting trees (maybe you can see a truck with lots of trunks in the background on my previous picture?). It didn’t smell of cut trees though, I guess it was too cold!

I played with my camera a bit to take pictures of a different format. When I saw this feather, it reminded me that the hunting season ended one month ago, and that is truly good news. I am not scared anymore, and not in danger of becoming deaf either!

When I left the woods, I crossed the hamlet of Villaine.

It was very pretty, very typically Normand, with more primroses by the road side...

There were several orchards. It will be so pretty here in a few weeks, with all the apple and pear trees in bloom!

Then I walked on a path with pastures on both sides, and the sound of the nearby river...

There were lots of wild flowers of all kinds!

As I passed by the first house of Le Bout de Bas, I was glad they had left their bike outside! :)

A few minutes and a beautiful daffodils' garden later...

I was back in nearby Lyons-la-Forêt, and enjoyed looking at its houses very much!

I hope you enjoyed sharing my hike today! How was your Easter Sunday? I hope it was as lovely as mine, but a little sunnier! :)

Lovely entry for today's blogging. Always a great experience to vicariously walk around in the French countryside. Thanks. No sun in Pennsylvania (middle of state) and no flowers either, except from the store. Rain and fog all day , but still quietly pretty, in the dun colored way of winter.

Happy Easter Claire and thanks so much for taking us along on yet another of your beautiful hikes! Gorgeous scenery and the flowers are so beautiful. Loved the pictures of the forest even if it is still grey and overcast and glad to hear the hunting season is over.
I love the pictures of the houses as well since they are so quaint and so different than the homes here in the States. Makes you feel like stopping in for a bit of tea!
Glad you were able to get out even if the weather wasn't 100% great but as usual, you captured such beauty that we all feel like we know just a bit more about that part of France!
Have a wonderful week!
Hugs, Holly emoticon

Great to see a bit of Normandy - and those lovely primroses! I can tell that I will need my boots in April and possibly my warm coat...
It was grey here today as well, but we had nice weather for last week's Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil masses! So I am more on track with walking this week.
Wishing you a good week in all ways! emoticon Sara

    Tres jolie! Merci bien!
As always your hikes are such a joy to read. As for me I was cuddled up by the fire. In England it still feels like winter even though we are now in British Summer time emoticon

Always love it when you go to Normandy, love the shops so pretty, but mostly, I love the flowers, I am sure you know this. The primroses and daffodil's so pretty.
I really loved the picture with the bike left out, would be fun to ride there.
I had nice Easter dinner with my family, our weather is a bit overcast today , but a good day. Thank you Claire, glad you got a hike in and Happy Easter. emoticon

The countryside looks very English, and very cold!

OH, what a wonderful hike---nothing like that in the states! I enjoyed all your pictures, esp. of the flowers. And it is gray, overcast, and rainy here at times.
