If This Man Don't Stop Cookin'!

Sunday, March 31, 2013

I know it's Easter. Easter is usually complimented by delicious food. I'm just not feelin the food today. I woke up and headed to the gym for an hour of self love before enjoying the day with the family. I come back and despite our conversations around a pretty healthy menu for Easter dinner, DH has decided to totally revamp the plans. Why are we eating fried chicken on Easter??? Who does that?! But now that I'm smelling it cooking...I'm just sending up all kinds of silent prayers to God for him to give me strength to make it through all of this temptation. Cake, wine, mashed potatoes...I won't even tell you the rest. If this man doesn't stop cooking all this mess we are gonna have a serious problem. I mean, it's wonderful food and he's a wonderful guy but jeez! Good thing I have all kinds of "clean" fare in the fridge for situations like this. Now who will win? The food devil on my left shoulder or the food angel on my right? Let's see... emoticon

Your blog post made me laugh out loud. So good. And so true. In my case my DH likes to cook exactly what I shouldn't eat and then piles on with all the junk food he also buys and brings home for snacking. I do appreciate that he helps a lot around the house and volunteers to cook often. It's a struggle, though, not to stuff myself but like you, I am keeping plenty of the "good" stuff in the house for me to fall back on when I am tempted to eat his potato chips, Snickers bars and Cheetos. Cheetos are one of my real downfalls. Loved them since I was a kid! Guess we are all fighting the same battle, huh! Hang in there. emoticon

LOL! Which one won on Sunday?? I know the devil won on my end, but I went to the gym shortly afterwards to help alleviate a little bit of the extra calories.

Hope you had a good day with your hubby though! emoticon

It is, as Para says LIFE and life has stumbling blocks but a festive meal prepared with love by your man was to be celebrated and savored in moderation because he wanted it and because he prepared it for you and the fam. I hope you were able to balance those two shoulder pads you had doing a tightrope dance. Life is always going to present those. And girl, shoulder pads are so very, very passe'! Love you Island Sister!

I hope your feast went well and that you were able to enjoy family and friends and some good food without breaking the calorie bank! Good smells and good food are a part of life, and should be enjoyed in moderation.... I'm sure that you won this battle... even if you did get to sample a taste or two....

"Lord, keep her strong and allow her the willpower to stay within her calorie range...QUICKLY!"

*Fingers crossed for you. Good food is my weakness.*
