Mazama Ridge at Mount Rainier 3.29.13

Sunday, March 31, 2013

Friday we grabbed the snowshoes and headed to Paradise to finally do Mazama Ridge.

The route starts out on a road that they don't plow in the winter then goes steeply UP. We were able to follow some tracks and found our way up to the "secret passage" through the trees onto the ridge. It's beautiful there. The views of the Tatoosh Range were neat but the usual amazing views of Mount Rainier were blocked by clouds even though it was mostly sunny.
I ended up with a nasty sunburn on my face. I'm sure it's because I had just finished taking Cipro for that UTI and still had it in my system.

Not many people at Paradise today/.

The little gap in the trees at the top is where we accessed the ridge behind.

My sunburn=( It is keeping me from enjoying the perfect conditions that are at the mountains today.

1BEACHWALKER 4/4/2013 2:05AM you use aloe for sunburn treatment? It is great for cooling it and it turns it into a tan for me for some reason! So happy to see your awesome photo blog back! Such gorgeous snowy mountain photos!
You are such a brave, adventurous lady!! And you know what your face looks thinner from previous photos and you look younger! All that exercise is paying off Wendy!! Keep going! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sorry about the sunburn. Take care of it! THe pictures are so beautiful. As it is up into the 70's here in southern NM it's hard for me to even think about snow like that!
