DAY 13 OVERCAME MY VICES NOW HOW TO SQUEEZE IN EXERCISE?

Saturday, March 30, 2013

OKAY....I QUIT DRINKING
OKAY... I QUIT SMOKING
OKAY... I'VE STAYED WITH MY CALORIE RANGE

ALL THAT IS WELL AND GOOD, I'M PROUD OF MYSELF!

BUT HOW DO I SQUEEZE A HOUR OF EXERCISE INTO A ALREADY LONG DAY:
UP AT 6AM....SHOWER, DRESS, EAT BREAKFAST, PACK LUNCH, MAKE MY BED
LEAVE FOR WORK AT 7AM....DRIVE FOR A HOUR
ARRIVE AT WORK 8AM
LEAVE WORK AT 6PM
DRIVE A HOUR, GET HOME AT 7PM....CHANGE CLOTHES, FIX DINNER, CLEAN UP
NOW IT'S 7:45 PM IS THIS WHEN I EXERCISE? A HOUR BEFORE BEDTIME?
GET TO BED BY 9-9:30 PM

DO I GET A BREAK? DO I GET TO JUST SIT BACK AND PUT MY ACHING FEET UP FOR AWHILE?

I KNOW....Y'ALL WILL TELL ME TO GET UP AT 5AM....MY GOD....REALLY?

HOW DO YOU DO IT? OR DO I SETTLE FOR A 1LB WEIGHT LOSE A WEEK INSTEAD OF 2 BECAUSE I CAN'T DO A 14 HR DAY....FRUSTRATED....HELP emoticon

I didn't have a chance to read through all the advice you got, so you may have already gotten this. Years ago when I worked in an office that had a gym, I used my lunch break to workout. You could also walk during breaks at work.
that being said the job I have now doesn't really have defined breaks and I have to work to find those times to fit in exercise, and sometimes it doesn't happen.
If all else fails, remember this. Nutrition is 80% of the equation, you can lose so much weight just by cutting your calories, hang in there girl!!

I take 2 walk breaks most days while at work. I also do squats and lunges when I use the ladies room. Last summer I was working 10-12 hour days, and would go straight to a park to hike immediately after work. Just a few ideas...good luck!

I think everyone had some great advice. I can understand your frustration. They say weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. A lot of people will start losing weight if they are eating well and eating within their calorie limits. So maybe you should focus on that right now and slip a little exercise in here and there where you can. You could try doing a little bit of strength training at night, if you are sitting there watching TV. Do a few bicep curls, planks or push-ups, etc. And maybe on your days off you can get out for a long walk or something. Try to find things that you enjoy doing, so it doesn't feel so much like a chore. Just find what works for you and don't EVER give up! emoticon emoticon

    Well, I can certainly relate.

I roll out of bed at about 6:00 am these days, un-shaved and un-showered and in route to the gym in a suit. It may seem odd, but by joining a gym nearer to my job and reporting there directly, I am actually less stressed out and feeling healthier by the day, even despite my at-times horrifying eating habits. Yikes.

It works out that by rolling early, I avoid nearly all of the traffic and nearly all of the stress. It takes me about 2/3 the time it normally takes me to get to the vicinity of work. And then, just before work, I enjoy a quick workout, shower and shave at the health club. Then I arrive at work at the usual time but already one up on everybody else cause I have worked out the stress.

Try it or something like it and report back. Thus far the routine has worked for me.

This is an answer to your comment on my blog, Oh how I wish I had a treadmill in my place. I did join a gym but its a new one in town, called "You Fit". One dollar to join and 10 a month. That I could afford. I walk an hour on the treadmill watching TV. Then I alternate upper and lower body machines every other day. I feel lucky to be retired, however, when I was still working I didn't make time either and now I'm paying for it. I don't have another answer for you, but I will pray about it so that you can find lunch time to walk or some such little bit of exercise. Blessings to you

Just a suggestion, but why not try just 10 minutes of exercise, there's a team that you could join

>It's a good way to squeeze in a little exercise during the week, maybe at lunch time?? Then you could do more on the weekend.

I'm just suggesting, I know I had a tough time fitting in exercise when I worked full time.

How about incorporating exercise into your workday? Walk laps around the cubicles, or the parking lot during a break or lunch. Walk up the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Do squats while your going to the bathroom... okay did that suggestion go to far? emoticon
