I'm departing from my usual Tales from 100# Down series today to share some perspective. We shared dinner last night with our only child. He turned 29. He was born premature years ago with many complications but survived and grew and became the wonderful son he is today.
Last night he shared with us that he is to have surgery. Because of some of the complications from his prematurity this surgery leaves him with many unknowns. Suffice it to say this mother's heart is burdened today and reminded about how precious life is.
There are many health issues of which we have no control (like my son's) but there are also MANY that we do. Obesity can bring many health problems but we have the ability to make better food choices and exercise our bodies to change that. I am living proof of that with a VERY good cholesterol of 124, low blood pressure and normal blood chemistry since losing 105 pounds, eating healthier and exercising. Why wouldn't you want better health? Isn't better health more important than downing another super sized fast meal from the local drive-thru, bingeing on easter candy or plowing through half a bag of chips?
Take control of your health where you can. Make every day count.
