Check out the graffiti and icicles I passed on this years 9th 5k

Saturday, March 30, 2013

I really thought I'd run slower than usual today, it felt much harder than usual, and the 32 minute pacer was a distant blur 10 minutes into the run. My legs felt heavy, and my breathing was tight because the air was so cold.

I even had to walk for part of the slopes zig-zagging up round the killer steps

But it was a beautiful day, and coming down past the Peace Pagoda, there was a patch of crocus that spelt out "peace" where the buddhist priest tragically died a few years ago in a freak accident with a ride on mower

I'm very lucky to live near the beautiful Willen Lake, where the Milton Keynes parkrun is held each Saturday. Even the graffiti is fabulous

but there was still ice under one bridge - both on the path and the wall

Anyway, it turns out I got a PERSONAL BEST, at 36:10. Four minutes quicker than last week (that was running on snow though), and over a minute quicker than my previous PB in October 2012.

Good for you, for sticking with running even though it was cold. Such a pretty area for a run. I love the "peace" idea with the Crocus. A wonderful tribute to the Priest. Such a sad accident. The ice on the wall is interesting. Mind how you go!! We get black ice out here. Drivers have to be careful when they drive on bridges and some areas of the streets and freeways. 4 mins. quicker then last time. emoticon emoticon
