Life is Good

Saturday, March 30, 2013

It's amazing how the change in weather can make someone go from grumpy/blues to excited/happy in a matter of hours!

Here in Worcester, MA, we got teased with "spring weather" since the end of January. I think I shared on here that the last day of January here was 60 degrees! And then we got dumped with 3 feet of snow the following week.
That pattern continued all through February and most of March. Spring weather. Snow. Spring weather. Snow.
You get the picture.

After awhile, the snow/cold/dark/cloudy weather gets us down and brings out the ol Cabin Fever issue.
I don't think I've ever had such a hard time dealing with the weather as I have this year.
And, ironically enough, I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I started running last spring, and so I wanted to start again. My new healthy lifestyle got me into a slump towards the end of winter because I was CRAVING the outdoor exercises that I can't do in the winter, due to knee surgeries/screws, etc.

And now, it looks like *knock on wood* SPRING is FINALLY here!!! The 10 day forecast on my weather app looks GORGEOUS! Only two days this coming week high 30s/low 40s, the rest of the week upper 40s-mid 50s!

I've already gone out for 2 runs this season (well, technically 3, but the one I did in January wasn't even close to being Spring yet, we just had Spring-like-weather, so I went.

I feel more energized. I think a lot of that also has to do with my new routine, which I wrote about the other day.

The sun in shining! The air is warm! I am walking to work today! Tomorrow is Easter! It's Spring Week for our theme at Preschool this coming week! Life is Good!

I hear ya on the outdoor runs. I started last year, too. I can't say our new home state winter weather has gotten to me yet but this new bout of cold may do It. Hoping the Spring weather sticks soon!

Krystal you gotta love that New England weather! I hear where you are coming from, had a bit of the seasonal depression stuff myself this yr... I am a big trail runner but have done some 5k street running too...I also started last spring. I had abd surgery in Jan and have not gotten the ok to do to much exercise that requires to much of the core but have gotten out to do some casual hikes the past couple wks thank goodness.

Deb and I do the DIva Dash in sept in Marshfield hope you and a few friends may like to join us this yr...not too far from you! I live on the Cape and sometimes head north to do some hiking or bike riding!

I know exactly what you mean about the weather. It makes all the difference in my life. The bulk of my exercise comes from walking my pups and we have not been able to get out much due to the rain and the we climate. We are raring to go and the sun is shining today! Hope you have many warm spring days to exercise! emoticon

emoticon I know. For me it is the hiking boots. I had mine on for a spring walk in the woods yesterday. Mud, ice, snow, old slippery leaves. It was all worthwhile. Just to have the sun on my face and the breeze at my back. Enjoy the change of seasons!

Krystal,

I definitely think the changing weather has been difficult for many to endure!

Our 10 day looks amazing, with temps in the mid 60's to mid 70's, and lows in the 40's instead of 30's.

I will take it!!! I have been so anxious for Spring to *really* arrive and quit the cruel teasing!!

Enjoy your sunshine and warmer temps and especially the return of your outdoor running!!

Happy Easter & hope you have an awesome weekend!!

I'm right there with you! This has been an odd and challenging transition to Spring - I'm ready for sunshine! Looking good this week - can't wait for my outside run later today! Enjoy :)

Yay! Glad you are doing well. Weather is a huge factor for me as well. I live in Los Angeles but I can see the difference in my attitude once the sun comes out. Keep it up. Blessings on your journey.
