Yep, we had actual sunshine out there today, and halfway decent temps too. Woohoo! Maybe Spring has finally arrived in western NY. To celebrate I walked the dog. lol!! We walk every day, but I took him out for slightly longer walks to bask in the sunshine. He was such a good boy today. He stayed in "heel' for miles and miles, with just a couple stops for him to roll in the grass. I will take him out again later for a couple miles, so we will have walked over 11 miles. I did get to the gym today. I decided to do an experiment and see if I could restrain myself and spend only half an hour on both the treadmill and the bike (each). I surprised myself by sticking to the plan. I only ran 2.7 miles, but I put a little more incline on the treadmill, so I probably burned more calories. I am going to get it up to a 2% incline sometime in the near future. Not quite ready for that, but I will get there. The point of this experiment was so I would have more time for ST. It sort of worked. I did a few machines that I have neglected in the last month or two, but I skipped the dumbbell exercises except for a couple types of dumbbell crunches on the ball. So, if I had to give myself a grade I would give myself a B+... Not quite an A effort, but definitely a good workout.

Tomorrow I am off to my parents' for lunch. I don't know what I am making yet, but it will probably be yummy. Speaking of cooking... I bought an eggplant this week, and I had zucchini, onions, peppers and mushrooms, so today I made a big pot of ratatouille. Yum! Makes me think of summer. It isn't as good as when I make it from fresh, organic, locally grown veggies in the summer, but it still tastes pretty darn good. I put it over brown rice and topped it with parmesan. I had two servings, and I still have 1,000 calories left. Oops! I just didn't eat enough at breakfast and lunch. Oh well. I need to eat more at breakfast especially. I always eat something, but it ends up being more of a snack than a meal. I have cream of wheat and steel cut oats in the cupboard... I just need to get up a little earlier and make them. Maybe that will be my new goal. To get up 15 minutes earlier and cook a hot breakfast at least twice a week. I could handle that. Cooper will probably stay in bed for that 15 minutes. He doesn't like it when I get up early, and refuses to get out of bed. In fact he either burrows back under the covers or curls up on my pillow. Spoiled pooch.

Anyway... nice day today. I am feeling good. I hope you feel good too!

I used to do what ColleenRoste talks about in her comment when I was working, only I'd set up my oatmeal with boiling water in a wide mouthed thermos before I went to bed. It was ready to eat in the morning or to take with me to work. (still warm) Today, I'd have some fruit and nuts packed up to add on top.

This really works well, even with the old fashioned oats you have to cook for a while.

check out the "things we like for spring blog" by coach Nicole- whe mentioned this thermos she got originally for camping, but now uses to make her steel cut oats- throw in the oats with boiling water- cover and go, by the time she is done her morning routine and has arrived at work they are ready to eat and piping hot for hours. I'm always looking for timesavers like that.. perhaps something along that line would remove the excuse of not enough time for enough breakie- it could even be ready for you after your walk home from the gym

    your ratatouille sounds amazing

Sounds like a wonderful day! And I had to laugh about Cooper not getting up. Tazzy was very put out by me not getting up this morning and giving her the warm spot in the bed!
