Happy Good Friday!

Friday, March 29, 2013

Had a good lunch out with friends yesterday at a real Mexican place. The food was okay but hard to track. I used up 1.5 of the cushion pounds putting me at 108.5 so still 1.5 under goal. So still room for the lunch out tomorrow that is planned. I will eat light today as well to be sure.

Had one of those nights where I had trouble falling asleep. Hate when that happens. You think you are tired but your body won't cooperate and you just lay there. I finally did get to sleep and then woke up bright and early. But the good news is that I only have to go on a mission to find wrapping paper for the wedding gift I bought for the wedding we are going to on Monday. Living in Mexico is always fun when trying to find something specific. You would think since we now have a Walmart in our village finding things would be easy but the Walmart here is not like in the states. It obviously caters to the Mexicans and their lifestyles. And I don't think Mexicans give too many gifts that need wrapping. I will try there first and then if no luck will go to the village to a couple of little stores to see what I can find. So big exciting day. Oh and I guess I will have to be careful not to run into the Passion Play where they have streets shut down for the play. I have gone to it many years and walked from the church up the mountain behind the actor who plays Jesus who carries a real heavy wooden cross. The costumes for this event is getting elaborate as the gringo community now holds fund raisers to help with costs. It is very well done.
Off to walk the dogs.
Hope all of you have a great day.

Hi Sally. Depending on the size of a gift & you cannot find wrapping paper here are a few other ways ( that is if they have the items in Mexico ) organza tied with a bow,an empty cake box, candy box, with a ribbon attached or bow. A decorative hat box , we have round, square oblong boxes in shops that make beautiful pieces to put gifts in.

If you can't find wrapping paper then maybe you can wrap it in material like a scarf or a couple yards of pretty material from a bolt

Good luck on finding the wrapping paper! Hey, I remember when I was little my mom would use the Sunday color comics as wrapping paper. Guess that wouldn't look much like a wedding, though, would it? Hope you find just what you want. Think it is just great that you have enough cushion to celebrate again so soon. You have got this maintenance thing down, Sallie!! Way to go.

Nice to have a Walmart but you are right - it's nothing like the Walmart in the States! It just doesn't compare... I find most of what I need at the local markets and hardly ever step in Walmart (in the next town) now the novelty has worn off..

Hurray for cushion pounds and good luck on your mission.

Hmmmm....a wedding on a Monday . . . unusual or is that something common in the Mexican culture? Curiosity got the better of me!

HUGS and happy Easter.

Sounds like an active day, Sallie! Enjoy!
I was wondering if eating at the Mexican place might have had something to do with your not being able to sleep. Just a thought.

Do they have fake Mexican resturants there, LOL! If you don't find any wrapping paper, go to the butcher and get some plane paper and do a pretty painting on it. Have a great day Sallie!
