Got back on the scale

Friday, March 29, 2013

Life became real busy the past few weeks and I wasn't paying too much attention to my eating so I refused to get on the scale knowing that I wouldn't be happy. This past week I tried to get back on track with my eating and exercising and to my surprise I was down a pound from my last weigh in a few weeks ago. Although I am happy to not have gained, all I can think about is how much weight I could have lost the past few weeks if I didn't go off track. I'm headed in the right direction so I suppose I should look at this as the glass being half full vs the glass being half empty.

It is SO HARD to change our mindset to a 'lifestyle' mentality...but so liberating if you can.

We put so much pressure on ourselves to lose X amount of pounds by so-and-so date. We then deal with the crazy roller coaster of emotions ... super happiness and motivation when we feel ahead of schedule, and beat ourselves up - consider ourselves failures - if we fall behind schedule. I have fallen victim to this and whined about it SO MUCH on here - and thank God for the folks here on SP who continued to talk me off the cliff. (haha)

I totally get what you're feeling. Been there, done that so many, many times. Don't look at it as time you wasted. You're absolutely right that you SHOULD be looking at the glass as half full - that you lost a pound even though you went 'off track'. I wouldn't even say you were off track - if you lost a pound in that time!! You were living as you normally would, still keeping some healthy choices in mind while doing so - and likely not realizing it - but you had to be doing something right if you're down.

You're back, you're still plugging away - and that's something to feel good about! As long as you get back up one more time than you've fallen down - you're a success!

Hope you guys have a nice Easter! (Waiting for company to arrive - should be any minute!)

Wow, you feel like you went off track for a few weeks and you actually ended up losing a pound! There are hundreds if not thousands of people here that would kill for that kind of "off track"!! LOL I would say that you look at it like you were on maintenance, without even trying. This is something that you should be very proud of yourself for.

Stay focused on the positive - you DID drop - and you know how to track

This is a healthy lifestyle NOT a diet - DIET is a four letter word to me - I have dropped 56 pounds and kept it off - still working on my last 20 or so pounds that JUST are stuck to me like glue

Sometimes too we undereat and that does not allow us to drop weight because it puts our bodies in starvation mode

If I can be of any help or encouragement PLEASE let me know - you have spark friends out there who can help

there is a Massachusetts Sparkler team that is great and I am team leader - we encourage, support, vent and share each other's lives
