Food, Food, Food

I don't mind planning my meals and eating healthy because I know the benefits. I don't mind giving up sweet snacks and grabbing a vegetable instead, or even a piece of fruit because I know that it is beneficial for me. What I do mind is worrying about whether or not I'm consuming enough nutrients, keeping track of the different types of foods I should eat and learning that the things I am consuming may not be good choices. Apparently some fruits should be avoided because of the sugar content...phooey, and eating spinach can cause kidney stones...what!! I mean I have cut down on my sugar intake, quite a bit, now I need to watch the type of fruits and veggies I eat as well. It is starting to feel more like a chore and it is very discouraging sometimes. So, it looks like I will be making more changes...adding quinoa to my diet since it is high in protein but not a meat source, mixing up my veggies a bit more and eating something else aside from mixed green salad with romaine lettuce and spinach. I am going to figure this thing out. I guess this is what is called "dialing it in". Grrr.

    thank you all for commenting. The smoothie challenge sounds like it will take a lot of dedication, although I have a mixed berry or mixed fruit smoothie at least 5 times a week. I love love love spinach and I was disappointed to find out that I really need to switch it up to prevent stones. I like smoothies, but I really like to eat my fruits and veggies as well. I generally don't buy the large fruits, because they require to much time to eat. After a while I get tired of chewing. I like manageable meals. I am going to figure it out. I definitely am looking into other sources of protein that is not meat. I am optimistic about the process because I know that I am getting healthier. Thank you all for your support.     I like this blog because it is based on a topic that I really haven't been concerned with. I focus a lot on calories, and exercise. I find it interesting because the title drew me in thinking it would be about a struggle regarding how often the person thought about food, the naughty foods, but it was nice to hear a new topic. TY

    Funny I read this today because I just read an article this morning suggesting you switch up your greens. I'm about to start a smoothie challenge and this weeks greens were kale, spinach and bok choy. So the article was saying that certain nutrients in spinach can cause ailments so you should switch it up to avoid this. I was surprised as well. Yeah I can see why people quit trying it can get overwhleming if we let it. Hang in there.

    Stay strong and keep it simple!!! If you love a certain fruit don't give it up because of sugar. Just by the small 6 inch banana's instead of the 8inch ones. I'm vegetarian and get my protein from whole wheat (key word "whole") and protein powder. I get how much contradictory information is out there, but health isn't about sacrificing your happiness. If you feel vulnerable, reach out. I got your back!
