Out and about

Thursday, March 28, 2013

I dragged my teen out with me for a while today. I got a nice surprise that my grocery allotment was already available, so instead of just a few things, I was able to do some real shopping!

I bought a lot of junk, easter candy-chocolate bunnies and such, to put in easter baskets for a couple of the kids who don't get things like that. (They are in worse budget shape than we are) and I wanted them to have enough to share with siblings. And I got my healthy stuff.

I now have lettuse and tomatoes for sandwiches, and I even bought veggies and fruit! They had ambrosia apples reasonable priced, so I bought like 10 pounds. Even I will eat those in small quantities.

And I got everything to make easter dinner. I adjusted my devilled egg recipe to use fat free miracle whip, and my cole slaw recipe to use fat free miracle whip and sugar substitute. And all my cheeses are low fat! I bought rye and raisin breads for variety and 2 kinds of diet bread.

I did awesome!and I got my market spaces paid for! I'm doing tuesdays and saturdays starting in june. Now if I can just get motivated to get enough stuff premade...

Yay, a great day! Sounds like you have some great foods planned!

What do you mean by "even I can eat those in small quantities"? Do you not usually like apples? I could eat 10,000,000,000 apples.

I do not usually love sandwiches, but I've been in a sandwichy mood lately! I need more bread. I want to try to adapt one of my bread recipes to be more like the "diet" bread I buy - it doesn't really have fancy diet ingredients, it's just a smaller loaf cut thin. Heh. I CAN DO THAAT. I need to measure my bread pan & figure out how many slices I should be cutting into and play with the recipe calculator. It would be nice to have super tasty homemade bread for about the same nutritional "buck" (90 cal for 2 slices) plus I could make it with more fiber. The "diet" ones I have bought all have, like, 1 gram of fiber per slice. Dudes, I do not get out of BED for less than 5g of fiber, HELLO. hahahah.

I'm a crazy person. Like you need to be told this...
