For the past year or so I have looked for running groups to run with. I like running solo, but I like running race day with a group of people too. I find on race day I can find someone running my pace and I just follow along behind them and I can let my mind go, and get lost in the rhythm.
Problem is I live on the east side of the area. There is NOTHING out here. Yet there should be. I have googled and looked. Short of 'meet up . com' groups. nothing. And I didn't want to do those.
I joined a triathlon group we all know. I love the group, yet am growing very frustrated with the constant travel to town on week nights. The track they work out at has no parking, and isn't on the max line. I have tried many times to make it work and so far it's just been too much of a hassle for me.
Last night in a post full moon melt down after another failed attempt. I told my husband that there really needs to be a group that does track together out here. I was thinking if only I could I would start such a group myself. I'm just not that um, much of a people person.
So this morning I google running groups my area one more time. I've done this before and found NOTHING!!!! This time knowing that nothing would come up I still did it one more time. and guess what???? SOMETHING. The club is just starting up. Open registration started the beginning of this month!
They have a Wed early morning run, that starts a block from my work. (I just have to figure out how to shower after words). Track work outs are (are you ready for this) 5 min away from my house! Happy dance for me!!! There is a evening run, on nights that my husband and daughter are gone late. Everything is with in a 15 min easy (non blood purser rising) drive from my house.
The fee is 50$ but they have a Facebook page that has 200 likes on it, when they get 250 they will drop the fee to 25$ I'm kind of waiting to see if that happens soon. If not 50 will pay for itself in the gas I don't have to spend going down town in the tank I drive, very quickly.
SO I am very excited about this and can't wait to see how this pans out.
