So I am somewhat unexpectedly racing on Saturday. I signed up for the race a long time ago but then thought that I would be unable to race it due to my hours at my new job, but the other day things fell through with the job for various reasons and so I am going to be racing it after all.
This race is a kind of weird one for me because it is an unusual distance (4 miles) and I had never run the exact distance before yesterday because I wasn't planning on running in the race until just a couple days ago.
Yesterday I went out for a practice run just to get an idea of what my time goal should be since I usually run either less or more than 4 miles. My time for my practice run was 47 minutes so I am aiming for 45 minutes in the race.
I'm hoping that this race will go better than my last one and I am thinking that unless something weird comes up it will since the main problems at the last race were weather related and it is supposed to be really nice on Saturday.
In other news I ran my first 10k run since coming back from my knee injury the other day and it felt great. It actually felt better than my 10k ever felt before taking time off which was exciting to notice. I am impressed by this not only because I feel that I have bounced back quickly from my time off but because the route that I ran it on was a really difficult hilly route and I am not always terribly good at hills. Hopefully this is a good indication that I am training well and am not overdoing it and tiring myself out like I was in the Fall.
Well, I'm out for now. I will try to get up a race report this weekend but it may not happen until Monday with Easter being this Sunday and all.
