Some of the DONE girls have formed a Spring walking challenge. Pick a destination and walk to it during Spring. My destination was the Mackinac Bridge (which is pretty much where the Mackinac Island Docks are as well). This is my favorite vacation spot and the idea of walking to my vacation and back home again was kinda cool. Total mileage from my house would be 556 (284 each way).
Challenge started March 20 and ended June 21. So far I have walked 36.15, which is way below my 6.6 miles/day average needed. So I'm going to shoot for more 7 and 8 mile days and recalculate in a week. I should be able to make it to the gym or go for a long walk 4 of the next 5 days for sure.
I'm tracking my miles with my Fitbit, which I really love. I can change my daily goals for steps or miles very easily and see my results quickly on my computer. I plan to get a smart phone soon that will also sync to it.
Other personal goals for this challenge:
1. Log 100% of my meals 5 days a week. I am also behind in this so time to get real with this one.
2. Sleep better. I had a huge sleep debt over the last 3 nights and made it up last night with over 9 hours in the sack. Woke up feeling a little overcooked noodle like which is really no better than over tired.
3. Hydrate! Time to kick up my water a bit.
4. Blog about it. Helps me get my thoughts organized if nothing else.
Tonight is the first of 4 days of church services around Holy Week. I just love this time of rebirth and renewal. Tonight we have an Agape Feast which is a sit down dinner for the entire church (~250) as part of a service. We also do foot washing which is very moving. It is like the best family dinner ever. I love this time so much I have taken today, tomorrow and Monday off from work to be able to not rush as much and take time I need for my spirit. This year that also means time for my body too!
Spring is trying to happen, but it's still pretty cold in Michigan not really cracking 50 yet, so no bulbs are blooming. Might have to pick up some forced tulips at the store to get that mental lift!
Happy Passover to those who celebrate and a blessed and happy Easter to others.
