Spark Coach Activity- Accomplishments

Today's activity is to write down accomplishments so I can focus on the positive. This was easy (sorta) since I'm doing pretty good this week.

I started this week with a commitment to refrain from all adult beverages during the weekday. What happens Monday morning? 2 bottles of wine from Sonoma arrive, my co-worker delivers a bottle of beer from Germany as a souvenir along with a ram horn to drink from and I got invited to 2 Happy Hours. Seriously, sometimes its safer for me to sit in a closet than to walk out my door. So anyway, I feel quite accomplished that it's Thursday and I haven't cracked anything open yet ( no harm in checking on them regularly as long as I don't open it).

I also tracked my food all day. It's not hard once you get back in the habit. It really does help you make better choices. Yesterday, I chose a bowl of cereal with skim milk over the trail mix with a serving size that fit inside of a bathroom Dixie cup. If I'm gonna snack, it's gonna be worth it.

Last but not least, I am signed up for my next round of fitness classes. The "fat girl" inside started making excuses about the costs and how I could run for free outside and jump on my treadmill when it's cold... blah blah blah. Then my "skinny girl" found her very squeaky little voice and told the fat girl to pipe down. We know I do better with structure and people. I am just not very good at pushing myself out the door to workout alone.

I have one more day to get through before I can crack open one of those little bottles. I've been toying with the idea of saving them until I reach another fitness milestone but, that may just be to much pressure for little ole me. I'll just take it one positive choice at a time for now.

    Good for you! That bowl of cereal over a teensy cup of granola sounds like a great idea. I might do it.

You know this already, but beware of the insidious nature of adult beverages. They're probably sitting there wheedling away at you. I tried cutting back to 3 oz. a night during the week and allowing myself more on weekends, but the amount kept creeping up throughout the week. For me, it's much better to quit cold and get myself into an entirely new mindset of not looking forward to all the social and relaxation aspects of drinking. It took me a month and a half, but I'm finally not missing it so much. (And I'M not the alcoholic in the family, lol!)
