It is easter week end

My brother is coming to visit ! I am really happy !

I want to treat myself this week end with my mum and brother.
I have not had chocolate in a very long time. I had half a bueno chocolate with my best friend last week and still lost weight.

Now I am trying to maintain. Maintaining is different. I really want to have some chocolate with my family. But just to be on the safe side I am wondering how much I should.

I am also worried about their perception, it will be a shock because I have stayed away from it for so long. I should not care about their judgment and just enjoy it I guess. Less pressure.

If I do have chocolate I will log it in my food diary.
I will have it with someone around me.
I want to avoid the guilty feeling and enjoy the little pleasures of life.

One step at a time, always ....

How do you guys add little treats to your nutrition?

    I treated myself this week end. To a chocolate mousse and a waffle. They were still within my calorie range and I ate both with my family. I am so happy I did that. No guilt just joy. This is thanks to all you advice and support. Thank you for taking your time to share your experience.

    @TINAJANE work it the same. I try to incorporate a little treat into each day. As you've been away from it for a while, understand why you want to add it back and feel comfortable sharing that with the family. A healthy lifestyle isn't about deprivation even if you decide to remove foods from your menu doesn't mean you can't eat it. It a wonderful feeling to actually DECIDE what I want to consume and understand what it takes to maintain emoticon a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

    emoticon Definitely Plan Your Chocolate Snack!! Be sure You MEASURE & Limiting it to One Portion -- Unless Your Plan allows for more. Also I suggest going for Quality rather than Quantity. A Small Amount of REALLY Good Chocolate is far more Satisfying than a whole Lot of Average Chocolate.
    emoticon Your Family might Comment or Question your Chocolate or Snack Choices. It could be because they do not understand the Difference in "Diet" and "LifeStyle". This is your Opportunity to Educate them and maybe Spread The Spark!

    I have sweets only on the weekend these days. I prefer savory foods most of the time, so there's not much room for sweets. On weekends, I eat them only in company and don't buy in the quantities I used to so I'm likely to have a moderate portion.

    Know that when you have not eaten a highly palatable food such as chocolate for a long time, your body can produce strong urges to eat more of it, at the time and/or later. If people give in, it strengthens the cycle. If not, it weakens it. Sometimes, people don't experience this. Just warning you. Desire is not a good enough reason to eat. Don't think you're a failure if eating chocolate wakes up some desire. It's perfectly normal. It's also harmless to resist the desire. You must have tactics you've used on previous occasions to thwart urges to eat. Pull those out. Maintenance skills usually have to be used for 2-5 years before they really become practically second nature often enough that relapse is much less likely. YOU can do it. emoticon

    I'm one of those people who believes chocolate is a basic food group - and if I don't have a little bit of chocolate every so often, I go crazy and binge. The key is DARK chocolate (because that is better for you, and the darker it is the less sugar is in it) - and to eat a SMALL amount!

    Great advice from others! Savor small amounts at a time, log what you do eat so you aware of where you are, and don't beat yourself up if you have a day or two that you go over. Good luck and enjoy your Easter!

    I prefer dark chocolate and have gotten better about saying "no, thank you" to milk chocolate and other candy. I like savoring a few pieces of good dark chocolate at a time. It satisfies my candy/chocolate desire.

    No food or snack should ever be off limits. Everything in moderation. A small piece of chocolate is not going to hurt you at all. You can learn to indulge in something special by adjusting what you eat for the rest of the day.

    Go ahead and have some chocolate and enjoy every bite of it! I understand feeling afraid since you've largely stayed away from it for a while. If you're nervous about it, measure out an ounce, which is a decent amount but will only set you back about 150 calories (can be a bit more or less depending on the variety and if there's anything else in the chocolate). Try eating it as dessert just after you've had a meal so you're not hungry and tempted to reach for more. Then savor every bite. I love letting chocolate melt in my mouth because it lasts longer and I really get a sense of how good it tastes.

    I try to incorporate little treats into each day. Sometimes it's a few squares of dark chocolate or a mini hot chocolate (the real stuff--no powder) with a bit of whipped cream. Once a week, I have an entire treat meal where I eat what I want. As long as I'm careful the rest of the week, I really don't have to set limits on my treat meal. I do tend to overdo it, but that's something I'm continuing to work on, so I feel better when I do indulge and so I can eat a bit more the rest of the week because I'm not compensating so much.
