I'm A Little Skeptical Of My Numbers Today

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Today was the perfect day fro a jog in the park around mid 50's to low 60's with some wind sun shining. I went to the park where the Earth Day 5K will be held on April 20th for my workout today.

Try Number 2

Played Now that is what I call Music 44 on my MP3 Player just the right tempo to jog to. Ground a nice paved surface pretty smooth as it is the bike path of the park. It's marked with miles. Made a game of it got a focal point to jog to then once there I allowed myself to walk for a short minute then get another focal point to jog to etc etc. Had my watch and pedometer with me - check time on the watch the pedometer was to give me my miles I did watch for the marking on the path as well. Started at the start point and got to the 2 mile marker then turned around to head back. The wind was behind me at first it was on the go back that I had to fight the wind Watch start time was 3:05 PM end time was 3:56 PM. Pedometer got me at 52 minutes and 4.02 miles. SP tracker when I tracked it under miles gave me credit for emoticon (I think this is a drum) roll please a 13 minute mile 4.6 speed. Now this may very well be a fluke, that is why I'm a little skeptical as last week I was at a 17 minute mile according to SP tracker. Running Calculator was lower as it was even lower today at 12 minutes 56 seconds.

It felt great its a new sensation for me ot be feeling. There were others on the path either riding or walking and or jogging I still was expecting someone to laugh or snicker at me but if they did I did not notice. I'm really pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

I will redo my jog same park same start point and finish point. Now I do have ot say in my defense today I was fully rested I did not work today Thursday I put a full day in at work then went for my jog it was windy but in the mid 70's that afternoon so the weather may have had something to do with it as well as the track I used that day was very rocky & hilly. Not at all as smooth as this path was today.

(4/10 pedometer was incorrect about time was off by .59 miles 3.43 15 minutes 10 seconds)

You mentioned how running made you feel great- that in itself beats any numbers right there. And then taking on the challenge of a rocky and hilly terrain -cant forget that added obstacle. You are getting stronger and faster as you consistently run. I think I should start calling you "runner girl" from now on emoticon --AWESOME JOB Linda!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

You went 4 miles in 51 minutes so that's 4.7mph. I think. And because that's an average of your running and short walks, you were running much faster than that. Way to go! Impressive! Runner girl!
Smooth paths are nice but beware, some 5Ks will be hilly. I learned that the hard way.
You have great enthusiasm for running and that's wonderful. You'll just get better and better.
