A New Day

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Well, I did end up having to get back surgery. I have some rods and screws in my lower spine to help support it as my spinal fusion heals up. I had the surgery in July, 2012.

Let me just say that it was a total and complete least in terms of alleviating the debilitating pain I was in from the spondylolisthesis. I no longer walk with a cane. In fact, I've started back on my exercise routine...but this time I'm kicking it up a notch! Re-joined at the Y, with an association-wide family membership, so me and my honey work out together...and the kids join in the fun with family swim! Plus, the little one loves to go to the child care center once a week while Daddy and Mommy work out in the evening!

It's funny...I have to lose about 75 pounds, but my sweetie needs to gain about 50. Wish we could just trade!

I picked up a Fitbit, and that is sure keeping me motivated to keep moving! Trying to get those steps up! Sometimes it's hard sitting at a desk job all day...but I try to get up and walk around...or pace while I'm waiting at the copier...or take the long way to the restroom...or take the long route to the bus stop, etc. It all adds up...and I love the feedback! Not to mention that my pants are really loose today. (even though the scale says I haven't lost yet)

But my BFF MSKIZ69 keeps me in check. She is my inspiration in all of this. :) I really hope I can obtain even half the motivation and drive that she has...then I'd be golden!
