Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

We all either have or want a savings account full of money that gives us a secure feeling about life. Based on our decisions about money, we either save or we don’t. Some save a lot and some save what they can. It is good to have financial security. It is good to know that if something were to happen and we needed money, it would be there. However, our main focus should not be to store up our treasures on earth. God tells us to focus on storing our treasures in Heaven.

Matthew 6:19-20 ““Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, please help us today to know what we should do to be working on storing our treasures in Heaven rather than earth. We spend time reading about how to be financially secure when we should be reading and praying on how to be spiritually secure. Show us what actions to take and what goals to set today, Lord, to live as You want us to live and begin storing our treasures in Heaven. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Saving for our eternal future is much more important than saving for our earthly one.

Whether we save money or not, it’s our choice. Just as it is our choice if we follow the instructions of God.

Making a decision to store our treasures in Heaven rather than earth will give us the peace we need and help us not desire what we don’t really need.

We can make a difference today by setting some goals and begin taking action to store our treasures in Heaven rather than earth.

When we spend too much of our lives focusing on the money we saved, we may never learn that we can’t take it with us when we leave this earth.

1 Timothy 6:7 “After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it.” (NLT)
