What is normal????

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

So I got back my test results today!! According to my hormone levels I am postmenopausal and I should be returning to "normal" now!! Ok but what the heck is normal??? emoticon I have been "crazy" for quite some time now do I know what normal is anymore??? emoticon

And yes I was told to exercise and eat right.........imagine that!! emoticon I do not have pre-diabetes (that is her opinion anyway) even though my sugar levels were a couple of points above "normal" (106 or 108 Cant remember now) and my hormone levels were "in the toilet" and I quote!! She did not have results for cholesterol or triglycerides or thyroid but will call me with the results as they come in (something to do with the machine being broken and testing sent out) emoticon

So it is time to start getting it right!! emoticon I gave her an excuse every time she mentioned exercise and darn she called me on it!! emoticon So onward and upward and may my stubbornness go away and let me start living once again!!! emoticon

All in all knowing I am not really crazy and it has been mostly hormonal makes me feel so much better!!! Maybe now I can get on with life and be where I want to be and doing as I want to do!

The two questions related to that have been do I really want to live where I am living? and Do I really want to do what I am doing for work?? Well the answer to both is an astounding NO!! I love my children and am so appreciative of having them help me but...........I do not like living in a small town where the only entertainment is the bar and I did not go to school and gather $60,000.00 in student loans to be a cook. Now I just need to figure out how to save enough money to move while paying student loans and gain some experience in the field that I am qualified for. emoticon

Have a great day everyone!! emoticon I am going for a walk!! emoticon

I was told over 30 years ago that my hormones were out of balance. I asked the doctor what I needed to do to correct that and was told that it should correct itself in time. I am sure that never happened. I have not been able to lose weight since and I feel like I haven't slept in 30 years (toss and turn all night).

When I recently asked my doctor if I needed HRT he said that since I am post menopausal it isn't necessary.

I don't think anyone can tell you what normal is...

Years ago when I was thinking about changing careers I went to (paid for it) a job search company. The first thing I was told to do was to look at a big Sunday Paper, NY Times, Boston Globe etc.
Paying no attention to education or experience I was to circle all the jobs I might be interested in.
If you decide to do this let me know when you have and I'll tell you the next part. If I tell you ahead of time it will make a difference in how you answer the questions.
So get a coffee or whatever beverage you enjoy and start your project.
Good Luck

NORMAL is a subjective measuring issue. Some folks call NORMAL to something that supposedly happens to the majority of people or things. But, what is NORMAL to me might not be NORMAL for you. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Oh poppet, I wish I had an answer as to what normal is but at the moment I don't!
Good that the Dr is taking things forward and you have some answers. You are no more crazy than the rest of us!!
Things happen for a reason. We have to endure things for a reason. Then, one day, we find that changes that have occurred (which we might not have thought much of at the time) have delivered us to where we want to be.

I like what Maggievan wrote. No truer were ever written. I'm still perimenapausal so I have no experience in this. I've heard of using hormone creams but don't really know anything helpful. There is a site on Sparkpeople where you can look up health conditions and get some answers. I'll look it up and post further on here Look on articles and video. On the right they have something about health conditions and when you press that menopaus is one of the things that come up. That could be a start. Hope that helps a little. emoticon

There is no "normal" except on death. You are very far from that, so just keep going.
