Healthy wRaps and Corporate Wellness

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

I am lucky enough to have a great Corporate Wellness program at work. It's called InShape and our leader is the wonderful Rebecca Nguyen and her sidekick, Lindy Gilkey. They have done so much for my company in just a few years. Things like updating the old, dark fitness center to a place that is light and fun to workout in; additional classes including what we call RAW and LAW (Rebeccas a$$whooping and Lindy's a$$whooping). They have also brought Farmer's Markets in the summer as well as countless other LunchNLearns. They walk the walk and are a ton of fun to be around. Today I attended part 1 of the Forks Over Knives Screening and will catch part 2 on Thursday. This is focusing on a plant-based diet and is amazing to see how much of our health issues can be controlled through a good diet. As a parent of a son with epilepsy, I am trying to learn even more about what is put in our food and what could help him control his seizures.

Other education they offer is how to make better choices in our cafeteria. They have brought in a Cooking Light station and will also go around to the stations with you to help you make better choices. I've attached a video they put together that is not only informative but fun to watch. We are so lucky to have these creative, fun and healthy ladies on staff!

(I had to edit this blog and remove a great little video because our communications department won't allow us to distribute...bummer.)

It's wonderful to see more & more employers wising up to taking active steps to safeguard and promote employee health! It's gotta save in so many ways...less sick time, greater productivity, employee retention and overall health and positivity of the work environment!

Two thumbs WAY UP! :-)

You are lucky to have those programs. It also sounds like your company has given these ladies quite a bit of support to incorporate those changes you talked about.
