We had a weekend trip for a campus visit for Princess this past weekend. Had a great time, she fell in love with the little college town and now all that's left is getting accepted and winning the lottery to pay for it :-(
While we were out of town, we had to rely on restaurants for many of our meals. Nothing makes me appreciate cooking at home more than being on the road for a couple of days. My hat goes off to those of you who travel regularly and still eat in a healthy way and maintain your weight!
One stop was at Applebees, which I like because they list on their menus the entrées that are lighter in calories. I had the Napa Chicken, and it was very good, but the tight wedding ring the next day gave away the ubiquitous sodium overload...
I did treat myself to an order of french fries at a local brewery on Saturday (skipped the beer though, wisely, as it turned out), as I usually do once each trip, sweet potato fries, of course! Shared them with Princess so I didn't take the full hit. Breakfast one morning was banana and a Clif bar, then we had a late brunch later in the day.
We did have dinner in the hotel one night and I totally splurged. Appetizer shared between the 3 of us, Pasta Bolognese split with Princess, and then we shared the bacon ice cream for dessert - it was amazingly decadent!! So, although I shared everything, which was good, I had several glasses of wine, which was not so good :-( I don't eat that way often, and I got right back on track when we got home, but there is a part of me that's truly dreading Friday's weigh-in.
I do like going out to eat occasionally, but by the time I've hit 3 or 4 restaurants in a couple of days, I long for my own food in my own kitchen, prepared by me and eaten at my own table!
