Beep…Beep…Beep. Ah another truck backing up to the dock. It is a great day working on the loading dock. Doors are open. It is warmer than maybe we would like, but it feels great. The trucks keep moving in and we keep unloading them. We are keeping up a good pace today. Not falling behind like normal.
Beep...Beep…Beep! Another one? Where is that cold air coming from?
Beep…Beep…Beep! I am going to break the back up beeper on that, wait, its awful dark outside. And that cold on my face? What is going on…wait, I don’t wok on a dock. I have a nice cushy desk job. Move an arm. Dang is it cold outside.
Beep…Beep…Beep! Where are these trucks and what are they doing in my bedroom at, what time is it anyway? Holy Crap it is cold outside those covers!!!
Beep…Beep…Beep! Oh crap, that “truck” is my freaking alarm clock. 5:40 am? What the heck? Oh crap, I was going to the gym this morning instead of evening. Ugh, what the heck was I thinking? Holy smoke it is cold outside my bed. Cold enough you can feel it as soon as the covers are removed. If it is this cold in the house, what is it like outside?
Oh man I am gonna die today. Well, I guess I had a good reason to set my alarm early and head to the gym before work. If I don’t get up and move I am going to regret it later. No skipping the workout.
Okay, Cereal? Check. Milk? Check. Caffeine source? Check. Breakfast is on. Sit down at the table to eat. Look outside. Oh Lord is that another inch of snow on my car? More like a half inch I guess. Bet there is ice underneath since the car was warm when I got home from the gym 11 hours ago.
11 hours ago? What the heck am I doing up already and heading to the gym? 11 hours isn’t enough time to recover. Ugh, I am stupid! What am I thinking???
Okay, I can do this. I got this! I could skip. If I do that that though it means likely not getting there tonight. And if I go and really crush the leg muscles on the bike they will then have about 56 hours to do nothing but walk me around. No, small feat but not like spinning up a virtual hill on the bike. Plenty of time to recover and come back Thursday after rest day and be ready to go again. Yep, time to head to the gym and feel the burn on the bike. Hill workout day also? Man I am dumb. Eyes on the prize, I grab my clothes, shoes, bag and coat and trudge into the white to warm up the car and scrape.
Luckily the ice wasn’t too bad. Roads were clear. Gym was pretty empty since most people have the good sense to stay in a warm bed on a day like today. Not some of us though.
In the end, I am glad I got the workout in. Glad to have the next 2 days to recover because my legs are shot. The steps were not fun this morning. Oh well, no pain no gain right?
