We have spent the last month learning and practicing techniques to help us to stop our negative thought patterns so that we may become the person we wish to be. We are continuing to move forward in working on the declarations of “Our Body Pledge”. We now need to begin to nourish the mind by becoming more positive in our thinking so that we can bring about the changes we desire in our lives more quickly.
Is something bothering you today that you find yourself thinking about, and can’t seem to get it out of your head? Do you realize that “in truth” a problem exists only in your mind? Remember the mind cannot tell the difference between a thought and reality. A problem is a thought - something we perceive as “bad” and do not want; it interferes with living our life as we would wish. We are going to begin to create our new reality.
The first step to get rid of the problem is to let it go; to let go of the thought i.e., the problem. This was last week’s practical exercises. It is a basic law of physics that two things cannot occupy the same space at the same time. So if you can let go of the negative/problematic thought, it frees up space for your mind to begin to see possibilities and opportunities that it didn’t have room for before. Now we should have gotten rid of a lot of “mind clutter”, and we can begin rebuilding our foundation from the inside out.
We are going to now begin to construct a more positive self. We are going to acknowledge the inner truth of what we wish to believe about ourselves – things we know to be true. We’ll have to cultivate them because we now know that some of them will be buried very deeply by those negative thoughts through our life experiences.
As soon as we begin to focus our thinking in this new direction, you’ll begin seeing things from a different perspective, and problems will no longer overwhelm you. So we will stop our new negative thoughts with the techniques that have worked for us, and we will begin this phase of self-affirmation.
As you practice this, it will become easier, and you’ll find your problems will become short-lived, your life will become less stressful, you will become happier, and you will become more accepting and loving of yourself.
