I posted a status update saying there was no reason for me not to hit the gym 4 times last week, as well as go on one hike and participate in a 5K. Usually, a reason is found to alter my plans.
Last week was different. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each saw about an hour of time at the gym.
Then my action packed weekend began. Friday after the gym, 'A' and I grabbed some Jamba Juice and drove out to Mesa (30 minute drive) to pre-register for our Neon Run the next night. We got our shirts, bib numbers and some glow jewelry (it was a nighttime run so we needed to glow in the dark). We headed back to Phoenix, showered and changed.
Then we picked up 'A's son (the cutest freaking 7 year old EVER) from his after school program, went to Hard Rock Cafe for dinner, then crossed the street to watch the Phoenix Suns take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. Awesome evening with two amazing guys!
I was back at their house at 8am Saturday morning so the three of us could hike South Mountain. The hike lasted about an hour (I think our lap was about 1.47 treacherous miles) and we all had fun :)
I picked 'A' up later that night (his son was staying with grandma) and we met up with some friends to head out to Chandler for the Neon Run. Lots more people than anyone expected. Near the exit, we were on the freeway for about an hour to go less than a mile. Eesh. So our friends were in front of us hanging out the sunroof, Harlem Shaking with their glow sticks for all the surrounding cars to kill some time, LoL.
We ended up being late for our start time, but so were thousands of others due to traffic congestion for the run. We ended up making the last wave of runners to start the course. We jogged a little but walked most of it because we had a couple 2 year olds in our group.
It was sort of a let down. I don't think the organizers expected as many people. And the neon glow stuff didn't work, so the only way you glowed was if you had the jewelry. Disappointing, but we still had fun. We heard lots of complaints from people who were leaving as we were arriving.
After, 'A' and I had a panic session when we got to the parking lot and didn't see my car. I kept honking the alarm...nothing. Freaking out. We realized we just got turned around, so it was right where I parked it. Obviously. Out of range to make it honk and light up. Deep breaths. Sigh. When we got to my car, 'A' said, "Well, we did our first 5K together. The first of many." So cute.
Here's our cool pose from a tent in the middle of the Neon Run
Have a great week, my Lovelies!!
