Every year my two sisters and I go away during our birth month somewhere different and we spend the year in between selecting a spot, making reservations and plans and just dreaming...We make albums and take turns whose year it is to put the photos into albums and who is the keeper of the album.
So the spot has been chosen and the plans are being made.
Last year I said that this year I would let myself be photographed in a swimsuit with my sisters. Do you think it will happen?
Planning my sister's 50th birthday party. Sssssh....it's a surprise. Just the three amigos (amigas?) sisters and a dinner party on the beach...
Goals to be made and met and dreams to be had and memories to be made.....Can't wait! I've already gotten their birthday boxes started (always sort of a theme)...
and this Mexican Malcajete Mortar Pestle
and we are going to have cooking lessons from a chef in our residence while we are there! How cool is that?!*
That is my offering to our Sisters Getaway.
Oh! And I've been wanting to do this 4EVAH and now I can. Verified I can bring these on the plane and I am going to have a tiny tastings party (oh, we cook for each other and do tastings and such each year) in the rental - DID YOU SEE THE PICTURES?!* We all collect beach sand, seashells and sea glass so after I present with these cuties we have a take away for our treasures! PERFECT!
Who knows what else we'll do! We are already giddy with excitement about it all!
I should add that I just got the photo we had taken last year in Captiva Island Florida of my sisters and our brother who drove up for the day. We sent them to our Mom that none of us have seen in over 12 years for Christmas. We all wore white shirts and I am looking at the photo on my desk now and it just brings back great memories of THAT day and week and I can hear Kris (my brother) now saying - REALLY? Another SISTER getaway; when does it become a SIBLING getaway? And it really should. You see, we started doing this the year after our brother Paul was killed in a crash on Valentine's Day and we never, ever wanted time to pass again without connecting in a very real way and we haven't. Time and family is far too precious. Our Mom has no idea what she is missing in us and our families.
So, absolutely there will be pictures of us being silly in restaurants and bars and on beaches and oh the stories we will tell. My sister Kim JUST now admonished the Kathy and I about the Sisterhood rule of "What happes in ______ (where ever we are) stays (cuz she was afraid we'd remind her of a little sumpin sumpin that she wanted to forget from last year).
I SOOOOOOO can't wait!
