Lessons from the Teacher's Strike

Monday, March 25, 2013

Today marks the beginning of the 4th week of the Strongsville Teacher's strike. I have been absolutely obsessed with learning the issues surrounding it, gathering information, posting my thoughts and opinions online, to the exclusion of just about everything else in my life.

I have still been running on the treadmill here and there, kept up with my 3x a week at Curves, but it's only been in the past week that I've really put attention back into better eating habits.

What I've learned is, if I have such ability to throw myself into a community issue over which I have no real control, I could redirect that time/energy into getting more serious with my nutrition and exercise.

So, it will be my intent this week - while the kids are on Spring break, and there are few news reports of the ongoing strike - to redirect my energies.

Thanks for the comments folks! I LOVE the term "monomaniac"!

It's weird and wonderful how our passions can drive our attention and efforts.

I love that you can see this happening and keep yourself at the top of your priorities, too!

What a great insight. You are so right. I have been encouraging myself to be rather obsessed with my health and fitness programme, to dislodge all those things that I would allow to distract me.
It s worth being a monomaniac for a while, because the results truly matter.
