Treadmill 5k!

Monday, March 25, 2013

I am on cloud 9 right now! I just was able to run (jog for some- run for me) an entire 5k on my treadmill!! I completed it in 37:30 which I am thrilled with! I had to slow down my speed recently due to my right hand falling asleep during some runs. So I ran this at 4.8 mph and kicked it up a notch at the end. It felt really good! I haven't been able to run this distance in 6 yrs and have never before maintained this speed for this distance. I can't wait to take it outside and see how I do (if Spring would only come)! At least now I will have the confidence that I can go the distance! My official 5k is in 3 weeks! Bring it on!! emoticon emoticon

I'm doing my first 5K in 3 weeks as well, and probably looking at a similar pace. Congratulations and good luck!

Have you tried anythign for your hand problem? Only things I can think of are maybe flexing and relaxing your hand constantly while you run (if it's a fluid retention issue) or letting your arm go straight at the elbow for a while every so often (if it's nerve impingement at the joint).

Yaaay! You did it! I am sure your race will be great. It's so inspirational to be surrounded by other runners and to see all the different people who come out for the events. Kick butt! (Slowly!) emoticon

That is awesome! I am still a long way from doing that!!! Did you ever find out what was causing the numbness?
