Why I refuse to give up

Throwing in the towel is tempting but it would be too easy. Frustrating moments happen to everyone, no matter what battle they are fighting.

I may not be anywhere near where I want to be with my weight but that doesn't=no progress. Progress comes in many forms. Something that too many of us seem to forget.

Nearly 3 years ago, exhaustion plagued my life. Today, there are days when I am still tired but I do feel better and there are moments when I have more energy.

Physically, Hypothyroidism has been my toughest battle but I didn't fight to find out what was wrong just to give up. No matter what you are going through, you should not either.

Sure, some of my days are like this:

but some of my days are like this:

What keeps me going is that there is so much life out there to be lived, to experience & I refuse to allow not feeling well 100% of the time hold me back.
Each day that we wake up is a gift and we can either fight our battles or surrender. We are lucky. We have the choice to choose.

Mentally, the most challenging thing has been me getting in my own way. Doubting myself, allowing my frustrations to lead me but a reminder that serves me well is:

By not surrendering, we our not only making the decision to improve our lives but also the lives of others. I honesty hope our struggles can serve as a purpose to help others facing similar obstacles.

No matter how you feel today, remember this:

And of course I can't forget YOU. Spark friends & supporters. Lifting my spirits, encouraging and inspiring and serving as a reminder to keep pushing forward.

It was so good to see YOU in my side bar this morning! Way to go! I really enjoyed your blog - so much of it relates to life itself - not just losing weight (but also writing a book). I love that you pointed out that we have choices to make. I think often times - so many of us forget that. Sometimes, we dont get to choose what happens, but for the choices that are solely ours, we should grab that choice and run with it as far as we can! *hugs* I bet today was a better day :)

I also like the definition of a friend and it is ...

A friend is someone who knows all about you and likes you anyway.

Loved your blog.

emoticon I know it's tough but as long as you are persistent you will make it. I've been here for 4 years and there are times when it's been hard to make myself exercise because I'm tired but I make myself do it anyway. I have successfully kicked the sugar habit though which has helped a lot. Also, since I've been eating a low-carb diet I feel better.

This whole weight loss thing isn't easy but it will be worth it in the end! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Even though our challenges are different, every person has them. Some challenges may seem petty (a bad hair day) or impossible (severe medical problems) but we must learn to own our challenges and face them rather than ignore them. We only know what we can do if we charge forward and take on what is put in front of us. And with a little luck, we might just punch through those challenges and find something better on the other side.
