Inner child at play.

Monday, March 25, 2013

As many of you may have guessed, I am a big kid at heart.
I find wonder and delight in the simplest of things. A blade of grass waving in the breeze, the way the sun reflects off the top of a tree, sparkles on the lake, as the sun dances like diamonds, then bubbles from below as a turtle shows his presence.

This weekend, although work was involved was one to keep me smiling.
Saturday, I had my interior landscaping, with replacements of plants and shining of leaves, but I was down by the river with views to sooth the soul.
Kayakers and walkers, birds on the wing or diving for fish, water lapping over the rocks that the James is famous for. hours went by like minutes as I walked and lifted and bent and burned calories.
Older photo as I did not take a photo, on Sat.
Then home to a treat as my oldest son emoticon bought Pizza. I stayed within my calorie range and boy those mushrooms were good! emoticon
To bed early and a good nights rest.

Sunday came and knowing that rain and snow were in the forecast, I picked a few flowers. Not too many, but the ones that had already bent over from a previous rain.
I used to bring in many, but found that I got to sneezing, so outdoors most will stay.

I put on my John Denver music... I love John Denver and he sings as I feel. I tend to get relaxed and rejuvenated, as well as creative, when I hear his voice.
When he died I painted this picture and have it hanging in my living room.

Well, on with Sunday... I decided to make an Easter craft, not a baked goodie, as I usually do, but a fun thing that I could share with the family, next weekend.
I spent the afternoon, blowing out eggs and after gathering a few leaves from outside, I dyed them, using onion peels.
Here are a few of them. I love the way they turned out!
This took awhile and I did not even think about eating! I drank green tea and completely enjoyed myself.
With all the eggs, I plan on making a healthy crustless, spinach, onion, low fat cheddar quiche!
Just as I was wrapping the craft up, it started to snow! emoticon So more music and tea and I watched the flakes falling starting at 3, when they had said midnight. emoticon
I threw a few snowballs at Kenny, but he is way to good a blocker, if he sees them coming. lol
I started building a snowman, but we were supposed to get more snow, so I thought, wait until the morning!
Oh well. It actually got warmer during the night and it started to melt! We started at 4 inches and now have 1-2. So not to be stopped, in my tracks, I went out and made my little snow woman all dress for Spring.

So there you go! Having fun, eating less, using time in good ways and enjoying life.
I love being a big kid! Well, maybe I will do some melting, myself and wont be quite as big a kid, but in heart, always. emoticon

I also like John Denver - I use to play his music all the time - I think I will buy his CD so I can enjoy him again. The picture you painted of him is very good. Your Easter eggs came out really nice.

Your snow lady made me smile - she was very cute.

This is a rewarding, and wonderful account of your weekend. I love the daffodils, the eggs, they had them on The Chew show Fri. I believe. Have you ever written a book, or thought of it? You know how to keep a person interest in it till the end.

Yes, it is the simple things that I love also, and best of all don't cost money.

Have a wonderful week, God Bless.
