I want spring! I want sunshine!

Hello dear Sparkfriends!

I expected a grey hike, and it was grey. Very. You know I love my hikes, but today I struggled! I took way too long to get ready and only arrived in Trilport at 3.30pm. It was cold. And wet, by the river Marne. It was mostly flat, apart from the stairs to cross the bridge at the beginning...

Most of the time, it looked like winter...

... with only, from time to time, some signs of spring (thank goodness!)...

I passed by a farm which makes brie, the local cheese ('supermarket brie' is the worst cheese in my opinion, but the real thing is so creamy, so tasty... it is to die for!).

After 1 hour, shivering, a bit bored, I decided I had had enough! I turned and walked back! I know, I know... I shouldn’t have. But it wasn’t what I had hoped for.

And deep inside, I know what the problem is: I am sick of winter. It is officially spring but it feels like winter! I want flowers and I want sunshine. I am ordering it for Easter next weekend! :)

I am sorry, this is a disappointing blog, with poor pictures. I will leave you with one of my pictures from summer (yay!) I played with on Photoshop yesterday to add text on... I wanted to change the background on my laptop to remind me that summer will eventually arrive!

Thank you for reading! And thank you so much for all your lovely comments on my previous blog. I am sorry I couldn't answer all of you, there were too many! Have a beautiful week!

I know just how you feel, Claire. We've had an awful winter and early spring here in Venice and it's really depressing. I think I've seen the sun twice in the past two months--no joke!

Even though your walk was disappointing the photos you took are still beautiful, as always. I love accompanying you on your adventures--your blogs and photos really make me feel like I'm there with you!

It is hard when the weather isn't sunny often. Nothing wrong with wanting warmer weather. At least you took a mini hike. Better then nothing! emoticon

I know just how you feel Claire. I'm desperate for some sunshine and warmth! Even my beautiful clematis hasn't got many leaves opening and usually by late March I can see leaves all over. My poor little daffodils are shivering out there!!

Claire, I just love your blog. We can't get over to Europe at this point in time because of health issues. So it is very nice to see your walk. To see your pictures. I felt like I was on the walk with you. I am with you though......... bring on Springtime. Enough winter already! For the life of me I don't know how those wonderful tulips are going to pop up by the first week in May for our Tulipfestival here in Canada's Capital City but indeed they will! They always do! Have a wonderful Easter!

Thanks for the lovely pictures. Here in Oregon we have blossoming trees and bushes and daffodils and hyacinths. It's still pretty cold, though. I love spring.

Hope your weather has improved by the time you read this. We just missed a storm from the West; so the last two days have been sunny and encouraging. We all really tire of winter by the time it gets toward the end...
Good for you for turning back when you weren't enjoying your hike. But, I'm glad you were able to take some great pictures. I loved the weather vane and the arches pictures. And, French cheese - perfection! It is a treat I allow myself from time to time when I buy an imported French cheese in the market. It may not be as good as the kind you can get from a local farmer, but it still beats what is usually available in America!

    Oh Claire,
I know what you mean about wanting spring / summer. Here in the States we have had wretched winter/spring with so much snow & ice windy & oh so cold. The dark grey over cast skies, are so haunting,All winter even after the snow & ice after it melts each time I have a lone yellow dandelion that is hanging on, Every time I go out just to look at it I focus on summer in my mind.Sunday I saw 2 clumps of crocuses purple & yellow so good to see them. My car needs a good scrubbing & waxing after this winter. My husband really minds the winter. I still enjoyed your photos Claire I always love reading your blogs, they pep me up. I still go back over the ones you did from long ago.Have a Blessed Easter Claire,
Judy

Don't worry, my friend Claire! It may not look like Spring ( it is cloudy in Athens as well!) but it smells like it! The smell from the lemon trees says "Spring is here and Easter is on the way! Well, orthodox Easter is on the 5th of May this year. The sun is playing hide and seek these days but soon it will come out bright and will shine to warm our hearts and fill us with joy!

It's still pretty there. The pussy willows are so delicate. Last year, we had highs of about 80F. It caused the apple and cherry trees to blossom prematurely, then the blossoms died when it got back to normal temperatures. We had a terrible apple crop. Our trees got nothing. My brother-in-law and wife got a total of 6 apples off all their trees, and the nearby orchard only saw a 10% crop. So that is one good thing about it being cooler this year, even if it is TOO cool. No COLD. We are looking forward to a better fruit tree harvest this year.

As always, Dear Claire, your photos are outstanding. And, your blog was not boring - I loved it.
We are still having snow flurries and much wind here in Tennessee. I am ready for Spring too. When you place your order for Spring in Paris for Easter - could you add Tennessee to that order??
Love you, girl!!

No matter how long the winter, spring always arrives.
I really, really hope it arrives soon for you Claire. I went on a daily trip to Delfi this Sunday and I thought about you. The whole area was filled with wild spring flowers and the smell had filled the air so intensely! I know you would have loved it!
I wish you get all the sunshine and warmth you desire on your next hike. Your blogs are always full of warmth even if the pictures are winter-like!
