Happy Anniversary to ME.

Sunday, March 24, 2013

It's been a year since I joined Spark people. 20 pounds gone. But the important thing is not that which I have lost, but that which I have gained.
* I feel better. I've gained health. I rarely get a migraine now. My A1C went from 14 to 6. I went from insulin dependent to only oral medicines to manage my diabetes. I am still plagued by IBS, and when I relapse, I can really see the difference.
* I am more active. I am a regular at the club, and and I have projects at home. Parenting still takes 90 percent of my time, but I think I am a better, even keeled parent. My stress level has changed. I've decreased my mental health meds. I've completed a 12 K, and am scheduled for March 10K, and May's 12 K. I've even planned an active wedding Anniversary with the husband. No longer am I content to go to a restaurant and eat to much. This year we are going for a bike ride together and then a mongolian grill.
* I have goals. daily goals ( steps, calorie range) weekly goals ( calorie deficit) a short term goal ( 10 % gone) and a long term goal ( major weight loss). I will admit, I fall short often. This is a journey, and it takes waking up each day, and deciding each day to take the high road, the path to health. every meal is a choice. Every day is the choice to gym or not. I struggle with the fattitude of all or nothing, and I relapse often. But I haven't quit, and that makes Spark a miracle. Every other diet gimmick and solution last a month, tops and then I would try something else. It's been 12 months, and I am still trying, every day. The best part of my day is when I spend an hour sparking, checking in my teams, and racking up points for doing healthy stuff. I love that I recognize my Sparkfriends posts, and that I can read blogs, blog and post and be part of this community. Here is to another great year!

Dealing with intestinal problems is life altering! I had issues my whole life since 16. Finally diagnosis celiac three years ago. 90% of the issues are gone and I wish the same results for your ibs.
I know how hard it is to find something to do other than eat out. For Christmas we got everyone Sea world passes. Now we can spend birthdays and holidays somewhere fun and not at Longhorns every couple of months. At least we get a lot of walking done!
