Count the good steps you've taken towards your goals!

Every day on this journey we are forced to consider our failures! Did we go over our calories or did we meet our nutrition quantities, did we exercise enough, did we get enough sleep and the list is full of opportunities to identify ways in which we have failed!
Let me suggest that you consider what you have done right! Have you become educated to know better what is good for you? Did you make an effort? Did it matter to you if you didn't make the effort? Did you meet 5 out of 10 of your daily requirements? Did you do better than that and get 6, 7, 8, 9 or even 10 out of 10? Then think back and remember the days when you were oblivious to what was healthy for you. The scale was going up, your waste was going out and your fitness level was dropping! The days when the scale and your physical fitness were not even one of your concerns and you were headed towards the bottom of the pit where you finally woke up and decided that you had gone too far and needed to make a change! That day is behind you and you've turned around and are on your way out of that darkness!
So stop beating yourself up about the little things and realize that you've made one very important decision! You decided to let you matter to you! To realize that you are important enough to take care of and that as you do, those whom you love as well as those that love you will have the opportunity to celebrate your victories as you overcome! You have 1 more very important choice left to hold to and that is not to give up! Hold on to it just as hard as you held onto the idea that your weight and fitness levels were nothing to be concerned with. Or maybe hold onto it even harder than that old mindset because you gave that idea up and are here now! Keep taking those little steps that will lead you to your new tomorrow!
Even if you take a step backwards, just don't turn around! Steady yourself, regain your balance and recall the reasons that you chose to start this journey, To leave the pain and discomfort of your poor physical condition. To start making changes in your life for the better. Keep learning how to reprogram your thinking. Instead of thinking "Darn it I messed up" think "Okay, I'm happy I have this opportunity to know what I should do and what things I am having difficulty with so I can make some adjustments and keep moving forward!" I am happy I have chosen this path and all of it is part of my success. I'm happy that I am not ignoring my failures because if I did, it wouldn't be too long before I am back where I started. So be happy that you've noticed when you could do better. Realize that your old habit is to just ignore your mistakes and that didn't work. SO now noticing, caring and adjusting is just part of what I want to be doing.
Learn not to bring your self down and turn things around so that what you are going through is a way to lift yourself up! Pat yourself on the back. You are here and you are doing better today than yesterday and that counts. Baby Steps, Half Steps and Retreading the steps that you've taken because you fell back for a moment are all good as long as you are headed in the right direction. When you look back, let it bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart to know that you've left that old life behind and only happy days are in front of you!
