Working with My Personal Trainer

Saturday, March 23, 2013

My week of activity was a lot like the weather here in British Columbia. After a cold few days to start the week, the weather has warmed up to blue skies and gorgeous sunny days. In a similar way, my exercise and activity was very much the same. Cold to start and warming up as the days move on.

My biggest advantage in this healthy living, weight loss adventure has been my personal trainer. After being given a few days off because I whined about having a sore throat and feeling cold, my trainer took out the whistle and the blow horn and reminded me that I had goals and needed to get on track.

And what a week that has turned out to be...
Tuesday started slow but later that night my trainer and I got out to a local park and worked on our soccer skills for close to three hours. Lots of running, kicking and passing the ball.

Wednesday was another slow start for me but my trainer again reminded me that I had goals to meet this month and sitting on the couch wasn't going to help meet them. So the plan turned into a long walk by Crescent Beach and Blackie's Spit.

Thursday was even better in that there was no slow start. I was able to get out and do quite a bit of yard work and my trainer, seeing my detemination to keep active, even provided some help. In the evening when I hadn't reached my step total I decided to walk around the house until I reached my 15000 steps for the day.

Friday was the best day yet. My trainer and I got out for another walk in the morning for close to an hour. I came home and a wanted to have a nap but again I was reminded that sleeping would not help me move forward. So, instead of a nap, we went out for an hour long bike ride around the Fort to Fort Trail in Fort Langley. Great exercise and a great view along the way.

Today has started slow as I have been Sparking and working on things in the house but I anticipate hearing from my trainer and we will be off again..hope you all have a great weekend.

Another view along the way

My Trainer (aka youngest DD) obviously frustrated by my slow pace and incessant need to take pics. Either that or she was a bit worn out. emoticon

You make me laugh and motivate me with your writing. I thought "how does he have/afford a personal trainer that sticks around long enough to keep him from napping mid-day?" This reminds me of my hubby who will occasionally find me taking an afternoon nap and then encourages me to take a walk instead.

I am going to start calling him my personal trainer when he encourages me to get out and tell him to call me his personal chef since I will drop off healthy snacks, fruits, or veggies at his desk :)

Thanks again for such a fun blog!

I love it. Your blog made my day. I was a bit envious of you and your personal trainer and had to laugh when I realized our trainers have something in common since mine is my daughter, too. She's only 10 but she does a great job keeping me on track. emoticon Beautiful pictures, too. Wish it looked that good here. We're still waist deep in snow.

You are so fortunate to have a personal trainer who cares so much about you that she's willing to invest the time and effort in you. She's lucky to have you, too. What a beautiful bike ride. A great finish to a good week! Thanks for making me smile.

That's great to have such a determined trainer!! The good thing is you're "stuck" with her - no getting rid of her if you don't like the advice!

You're doing great! (And I love the pictures!)

Your writing gets me every time!! Here I am reading along thinking how in the world can he afford such a dedicated personal trainer? The cost would be exorbitant! Then you get me to the end I remember it's your daughter. You are a lucky man!
I have two daughters I believe would be just as committed to my weight loss but due to other circumstances in their life just can't. But they are very supportive of what I'm doing. My middle child, my almost 27 year old daughter is now expecting her first child. And she works a full time job and 2 part-time jobs. But she would be a real whip-cracker! She is the one who all along has said 'Mom, you have to stop talking about losing weight and do it".
My youngest, who just turned 23 is in the home stretch of finishing her Masters in Architectural Engineering. She doesn't have much time for fitness of her own right now. Much to to her chagrin. And now she is seriously considering returning in the fall to begin work on her PhD.
My son, who is proud of me for losing the weight is a pilot in the Air Force and knows all about staying fit. But he is stationed four hours away. I'm lucky he is even that close.
So...count yourself very fortunate! We would all love someone so dedicated to our well-being right in our backyard.
I love your blogs!! I look forward to every email I get telling me you have posted a new one. Keep plugging away and inspiring the rest of us!
