Changes I've noticed

Saturday, March 23, 2013

A few weeks in, and changes are happening as a result of my new healthy living plan. That's one change right there; I didn't say "diet". The changes I've made are much more far reaching - this is not a diet.

One bizarre change is I now look forward to eating fish. You don't understand, I hate fish. I have always hated fish. 3 things I refused to eat as a child; sweet potatoes, asparagus and fish. I now love the first two and like some fish.

The result of months of eating fish 4 to 5 meals a week is my cholesterol is much improved. I had my annual check up and my total cholesterol went down from 220 to 186. I still need to work on upping my good cholesterol - but overall I am pleased that I dropped so much without the use of medication.

I am much more energetic and active. I even started tackling the mess of my kitchen storage. I took "before pictures" because I am so excited about the prospect of the after pictures.

I also like the way people are starting to think about me. One of my employees is a total health nut. My boss called him to ask for advice on what to buy me for a gift as a thank you for pulling him out of a jam. Nice right? My boss asked if he should get me chocolates or maybe a fancy coffee... my employee told him that he's too late with such gifts, that I've changed my life and am eating better and avoiding more than 2 cups of coffee a day. I love that he KNOWS that and that he spoke up for me! I called my boss and told him I appreciate the thought, but I'm not a dog to be rewarded with food.

I just feel better. I'm proud of myself. Regardless of what I weigh.

I love little things like that which really show that we have actually made some positive real changes in our life! I bet the old you would have loved the chocolates and or coffee! How great that your colleagues are noticing your healthy behavior too. Keep up the spark!

Some great, great changes! emoticon I would have told the boss, "Ever hear of that commercial, "Show me the cash."

My boss tried to thank me with a Smoothie made with sherbert the other day! He showed me the container and asked if there was anything in the sherbert I couldn't have ... I said, "The first two ingredients," but thank you for thinking of me anyway! emoticon

How nice to notice things about yourself which you had never realized before. We are not on a diet as you say but a way of life. Best wishes to you!

It's nice that your boss wanted to bless you for what he considered to be a blessing from you, even though his first thought was something sweet and comforting. People often think of giving to others what they would like to have themselves. Birthday gifts are often purchased for others not by what they would like to have but by what we like or would want. In order to please another we should think about what they would like to have instead of our own preferences. Maybe next time your boss will consider your new lifestyle and purchase accordingly.

emoticon on the results of your blood work! Sounds like you are making great progress! emoticon You're well on your way to living a healthy lifestyle!
