Was I being rude?

Saturday, March 23, 2013

A few days ago, I wrote a blog entitled, "My Boss Is A Saboteur" about my boss bringing food into the office that my co worker (and long time friend) should not be eating. Jeff, my co worker, is over 400 pounds, has high blood pressure, goat and bad knees. To give you an update, yesterday my boss comes out of her office and says, to Jeff and I "I'm buying lunch. What would you like?" Jeff perked up and said, "Chinese food!". He got the Crispy Chicken with all the sauce but that was all. My boss asked me what I would like and I told her that I had my salad with me and all my calories counted for the day. She said okay and went and got the food. Now, the night before, her and I were walking out to the parking lot together and she said that she had 5 weeks to lose some weight before she went to a convention. So yesterday, after she had eaten her Chinese food which consisted of Sesame Chicken, white rice and 3 crab rangoons, she comes out of her office and said, "I use to be able to slid these jeans right down over my hips but I can't now. Then she said that the Chinese food was her last binge and that she was going to buckle down and lose the weight. I looked at her and said, "Yeah, right." (she is also a friend of mine by the way). She said, "I'm serious." "yeah, okay," I said. She has said this many times and I just don't see it happening. She does not make healthy choices and does not exercise at all. I am just tired of her complaining about having to lose weight and then she eats unhealthy. I don't think I was being rude or obnoxious to her but it just irked me.

Maybe a workout club during the day as well as that competition

Maybe you could start a competition at work to see who can lose the most weight before the convention. Everyone puts a dollar in the jar each week and at the end the biggest loser gets the pot. We used to do it where I worked.

I don't think you were rude at all! Being real with a friend isn't being rude.

    IMHO

This "friend" boss is threatened by anybody who makes changes for the better because she does not have the willpower or motivation to do it for herself. If she keeps others heavy, she has a sense of superiority and does not have to promote Jeff(as stated in our previous blog).
Haas anybody ever TOLD Jeff about this company plan for him? Maybe if he knew , he MIGHT be motivated to chum up to you and start something positive in his life.
There is a place on the spark site that you can print out little Spark business cards to pass out, we needed a spark, maybe he does too. Great going sticking to your guns at lunch!!

You called your friend out. Friends do that for one another. They also lead by example which is what you are doing on Spark!
