Right - I'm setting off for a day's activity which includes biscuits, cakes and a buffet lunch which will be largely pastry, bread, pasta, potato, mayo.
I have eaten a good, hearty, breakfast to keep me satisfied for as long as possible.
I am planning to say NO to biscuits and cakes. I am going to eat the cheeses, salads, a bit of bread - and allow myself a small portion of crisps. I hope there might be a fruit salad or something - I have an emergency apple in my bag - and my sugar-free gum!
I will check back in later and let you know how I got on! I'm already worrying about how to track food eaten at a buffet; guess a buffet is NOT a green light to eat everything on the table? Take a plate, serve myself a 'normal' meal etc.......... I can do this!
I measured myself this morning and I'm an inch down on my waist and hips - so excited to see evidence that I am toning up!
later: I'm back from the buffet- day - and I did well. There was a lovely home-made leek and potato soup, and some millet bread (no wheat) - which I enjoyed (no butter). I had a portion of quiche, salad, some cheese and crisps, fruit salad. I had NO CAKE and NO BISCUITS. After the day, the hostess asked people to please take home any un-eaten food as she didn't want biscuits and cakes left in the house (! - I really understood where she was coming from and helped her bag stuff up and give it to people who don't have a problem with it!).
We went out for a walk in the afternoon and came back for tea (and cake) and I had a mug of tea and a bag of crisps. The only disappointing moment was when I read the crisps ingredients and they included monosodium glutamate and dextrose - but it was a small mishap and I'm not feeling bad about it - will just be on the look-out next time!
