Went to Dr. Knee...

Friday, March 22, 2013

Went to see the Ortho-Doc today - 3rd visit this month. She ordered an MRI on Tues. so I guess that we will finally know what is going on. I played euchre this afternoon at the Senior Ctr. It felt good to get out, laugh & just feel "normal" again. Went to bed way too late last night & need to get more beauty sleep this eve. Hope that everyone has a great weekend...Take care...

JUST WENT THROUGH ALL THIS MYSELF. ALL THE DIFFERENT DRS. AND ALL THE TESTS WERE A ROYAL PAIN IN THE BEHIND. BUT IT WAS SO WORTH IT TO FINALLY GET THE PROPER DIAGNOSIS. NOW WE CAN TREAT IT AND I CAN MOVE AROUND AGAIN.

Good luck with your knees. I know first-hand how painful knees can be. Unfortunately I waited too long before getting mine looked at and had to have total knee replacement in both knees. The good news is that I can now do things that I couldn't do for years. Hope all goes well for you! Hugz!!

Wow I didn't know that people still played Euchre.
I read about my Mom playing it back in the 30's. They used to put it in the paper.

Getting to the MRI stage is a good thing, in my experience: it should show soft-tissue damage, and give them a much better idea of what's going on than an x-ray will do. On the x-ray, my knee showed the joint (i.e., bone / cartilage) was okay apart from the normal aging wear-and-tear. The MRI allowed them to see some of the meniscus damage - I had an old injury - and confirmed that the arthroscopy was needed.

Good luck with it, Janey - what they told me is I had an 85% chance of noticeable improvement... a 70% chance of it remaining pain-free... and might be able to stave off a knee / joint replacement for another 10 or 15 years, or more. That has been borne out, pretty much, and I'm still surprised and pleased at the improved stability in my knee, since I no longer feel as though it will "give" from under me.

I went to my doctor about my knees. They said "nothing broken". End of story. But it's okay, they are improving all the time. I'm sure less weight on mine will make a difference, too. Hope all goes well for you.

Are you thinking of a knee replacement or maybe you injured your knee. I ho0pe it heals well and life can return to a normal for you. I hope you get a good night's sleep and wake up refreshed and ready to enjoy the weekend. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
