I went to the orthopedist today for my 3 month checkup on the right knee. (The newer of the 2 replacement knees). As far as I knew, it should have been my last appointment. Because no one told me that I was supposed to be having the left one checked at 6 and 12 months!
Anyway, I got my xrays done and went for my appointment. He checked the right knee for stability, said the xrays were good for placement (I haven't damaged anything) and he is very pleased with how I'm doing. I asked him about driving my rig. Since I'm getting off the migraine med that could cause a dot problem, I wanted to know if he thought the knees would be up to it. He said the knees are up the the clutch and driving now (provided I can handle the pain and swelling when I do too much. He actually said "when" I do too much, not "if"
guess I'm busted) but climbing ladder-style wouldn't be a good idea yet. So I explained that our rig is half camper, and if need be, I can go in through the sleeper and use the camper steps. He asked when I'm thinking about doing this. I said a month or two, after I'm off the migraine med and it clears my system so I can pass my dot physical. He said that's reasonable, but stay with Hubs. Don't try to go it alone or pull full shifts for a while.
Then he said he's see me for my 6 month check on the right knee. I said what 6 month check? My left one is 6 months old and no one told me I needed to come in? So he says "really? Well, let's just look at it now." So he checks the left one too. Also stable and happy with it.
Then he says since I am doing so well, he will just check both knees in September!
Hot dang! Woohoo! Yay! Yippeee!
Oh, and I also lost a half pound since Tuesday. From 288.8 to 288.3. I'll take that too!
Since I was in such a good mood, I dropped green sock monkey cup cozies off at the coffee house. Bought myself a SMALL nonfat cocoa (I am getting back on track!) Went and paid rent early (I told you I was in a good mood). And only used 1 crutch to come back in the house!
Oh, I also didn't have crutches in the dr office! Yeah, he was impressed. No cane, nothing!
Maybe I will be able to drag son to the Y next week...depending on how my mom's heart surgery goes Monday, of course.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
