Went to the farm supply and feed store to pick up some more squash seeds (I know, what am I thinking, MORE squash???!!) and they have a sign draped across the front
BABY CHICKS ARE IN
And I immediately remembered all those baby ducks and chicks that we received as Easter "gifts"... every year we each received a brightly dyed chick or a duckling, which, if it survived to adulthood, would provide eggs in a nest somewhere hidden in the backyard... duck eggs are significantly bigger than chicken eggs ...and are wonderful in baking.
But those days are gone, probably for the better, and the baby chick sign was for the farmers who actually raise chickens. Somehow bunnies have become the pet du jour around Easter time and the feed store had a display case right as you entered full of the adorablest cuddliest bunnies you could ever see.... Forty dollars each! And of course you'll need to buy a cage, and bedding, and feed, and probably a BUNCH of other stuff...
Which their marketing team had cleverly managed to make it seem like a bargain, because right next to the bunnies were their ferrets which were for sale for $139 each!!!!!
Somehow the Easter Ferret doesn't sound right...
