I'm On a Roll Baby!

Wow, I am so excited that I have to tell everyone about this! Everything is finally clicking for me! I have now lost a total of 48 pounds 7 of which I have lost since last Thursday!

Unfortunately, I developed Neuropathy in my feet about 2 years ago & doctors tested me for everything to find out why. The only thing they could come up with was that I am pre-diabetic & if I lose weight hopefully it will go away. Well the specialist I see for my Neuropathy referred me to a dietician. I've been seeing her for about a year and my weight has progressively gone down each time I see her but only a few pounds at a time as I only see her & my specialist about every 3 months. You see I would lose 7 pounds than gain back 5 so on & so forth. I saw her last Thursday & with the discussion we had she sensed that things are finally clicking for me! The whole lifestyle change versus diet. So she wants to see me back in a month & challenged me to lose 8 pounds by then. Guess what? I've already lost 7!

How you ask? I was eating better but now I'm eating very good! I'm eating more veggies & beans than I've ever ate in my entire life! I am trying veggies & beans that I've never even tried before & eating ones I refused to even try previously! I am veggie & bean abundant! Also the last couple of weeks I have started getting my butt in gear with exercise which admittedly I wasn't doing much of! I sit at a computer all day at work. Now I am doing Spark workout videos every couple of hours even if it's only for a few minutes at a time. Last night I went interactive on my U-Verse & discovered free workout videos there as well. I spent about 15 minutes last night doing those. Like other members have said, "Just move" even if it's only a little at a time!

My initial weight was 470. OMG how did I get so big? I am now at 422.6. My goal was to get down to 200 pounds & go from there. My new goal is to get down to 199. That way I will at least be in the 100's which I haven't been since what - 1st grade?

I am so pumped I will reach 199 pounds & maybe even lower! This is the 1st time in my 41 years of life that I know I will achieve my goal because there is no going back! Even when I make mistakes I will still move forward!

I have read so may success stories on Spark. There are so many life changing transformations! I will be one of them!!! Won't you come & join me???

    That is so awesome! I'm so happy for you and the way things are finally starting to click. You are so right, you can do this! It's not a diet, because diets fail. And the word "diet" immediately makes me want to eat everything in site. But a lifestyle change. To focus on what we can eat and how we can make it tasty instead of what we "shouldn't" or "can't" eat and feeling deprived. There are so many things that are good for us that can taste so good. It's also in internal journey, to not turn to food for comfort or celebration or anything in between, like I always did. These things work together. I'm s excited for you!!

    I'm late in seeing this post of yours, Cathy, but yes, you'll be one of those Spark success stories, especially at the rate you're going! Good for you, for seeking out a dietitian. I did at one point, too, and she was so helpful. I had an unusual problem relating to sodium which she helped me address through diet (I actually have to eat a HIGH-sodium diet since my body doesn't hold on to it). Dietitians are worth THEIR weight in gold, aren't they? Good for you!! emoticon - Susan
