The good news and the bad ....

Friday, March 22, 2013

Today I got my new Treadmill. It was a 'New Product Introductory Offer" at half price, saving me $600. Our Accident Compensation Corporation paid for one to be in my home (about 2 years after my accident) for rehab, but I could only have it for 3-4 months. I LOVED it and used it daily, and was quite miffed when they took it back. With the small amount of money left over from my husband's Life Insurance, I decided to treat myself this one thing. I will be able to get a bit more walking in now, rather than just putting my groceries and laundry away one at a time. (Fortunately I LOVE doing laundry:-) This method of walking has worked beautifully for me, but my g/son won't be living with me forever and when he leaves I will have a lot less groceries and laundry to put away. It made sense to spend now rather than pay full price later.

ANYway, to cut a long story short, the guy brought it to my home and assembled it for me. I tried it to see what it's inclines were like, and the speed etc. It was good, and didn't cause me any pain unlike the one I tried a month or two earlier. Only thing is, after he left, I went to use it - I can't get it going more than 1k/hr except ONCE I hit the "quick speed" button for the 8k/hr and that worked. None of the other speeds did. I went to incline it .... up it went, but when I went to lower it, do you think it would???? Not in your Nellie :-( I went to turn it off - out of luck there, too, so I had to pull the magnetic safety thing to stop it. THEN I decided to try the speed and incline buttons at the hand-grip - they didn't work, either :-(

My grandson couldn't get it going other than the pre-programmed ones that have the treadmill part going on varying inclines and speeds, automatically. I can't do that because inclines cause big problems with my hips and spine, and so does anything faster than 3k/hr. Later my son-in-law came. He was stonkered too! Finally, my neighbour came over. He is a mechanic who owns his own garage with staff, so he understands instruction books and mechanics. He couldn't figure it out, either. Now my NEXT step is to get the store to get someone to look at it. I was hoping to play with my toy tomorrow - I was purposely not going to today because after an 11 minute and 19 minute walk with the groceries and laundry yesterday, my hip was not thanking me today :-(

The neighbour came over to take a look at my lawnmower. When my g/son was mowing the lawn yesterday a wheel flew off it. There isn't much that can be done with it now, so the neighbour is going to take it to his workshop on Monday and spot-weld it back on.

I'm hoping nothing else to going to go 'phut' in the near future.

On a BIG plus ......................
WE GOT SOME RAIN!!!! Only a little bit but a little bit is far better than none :-)

Take the instruction booklet into the manufacturer and ask them if they have a treadmill to go with it LoL jks. Time for a bit of that ol' Kiwi ingenuity aye :). Kia kaha.

Wow, when a mechanic can't figure it out, it's definitely time for the store to send their guy back to fix it! Glad no one was hurt when the wheel (!) flew off the lawn-mower!

I don't know if you've been to Collage Video, but they have a series of DVDs for treadmills and elliptically that take you on walks/hikes/runs through locations in Europe, the USA, and New Zealand! If I could somehow get one onto my iPad, I'd get one right away, cuz we don't have a TV in our bedroom (where we have our elliptical).

You have a wonderful grandson. I love kids at that age! emoticon

I feel for you -- there's nothing more frustrating then getting something new and not having it work. On sale or not, you paid alot for it and it should work the way it's supposed to! I hope the company you bought it from and/or the manufacturer wil stand behind their product and service and that it's working for you soon!

So sorry to hear about the problems, but it sounds as if overall this machine might work for you. Last year when we finally got around to a new washer and dryer, the washer was a dud. Be sure to get a hold of the store and get their people out.... you may just need a replacement .... which I hope would come soon.
Think of you often. emoticon

Firstly, I'm glad about the rain as you needed it.
Now that is bad news about the treadmill. I hope
they come and fix it for you soon. emoticon
